Yesterday, I emailed the Echo Arena in Liverpool yesterday about tickets for the EMAs. Basically a website is selling VIP tickets for over £1000 and I wanted to know when the tickets would go on general release.
WELL. They didn't get back to me, but this is in the Liverpool local paper today:
MTV Europe Music Awards fake tickets warning
Aug 30 2008 by Caroline Innes, Liverpool Echo
BOGUS tickets for this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards in Liverpool are being touted for thousands of pounds on the internet.
Officials at the ECHO arena, which hosts the event on Thursday November 6, are warning fans not to be conned into buying fakes.
Legitimate tickets do not go on sale until September, but a number of websites are already advertising VIP packages for the show, costing more than £1,000 per person.
Tim Banfield, the arena’s general manager, said: “These tickets are not genuine. Official tickets do not go on sale until September and details of how to buy them will be announced in the press over the next few weeks.
“We stress to all fans only to purchase tickets for all ECHO arena events through legitimate organisations.”
Please don't buy anything until you are SURE they're genuine. I had seen those tickets and thought they were, so this is a bit dodgy.
Good news is that official tickets will go on ~sale~ in September. That means we could all have a chance at being inside. That would be fun! I don't know how it would affect the meet-up or the red carpet, but we'll work something out.
Details about tickets for the EMAs will be posted here.

Gah. I hate ticket touts. Not that I'd have a £1000 spare to get ripped off in this particular one! But even so ...
Great news about the tickets though! At least we know there are gonna be some available. ;D

Yeah, post it around! The more people know, the better, because otherwise they might want to purchase them. And £1000 is a lot of money!
Just so everyone knows, the arena got back to me today saying pretty much the same thing, so it's all legit.

I wouldn't be surprised that quite a few have. Me, not one of them.
I'm hoping to be able to buy a ticket to actually get in. If they win, hold up a huge UK STREET TEAM banner. ;D
OR just tickets to the aftershow party so I can rub my junk over Bill&Tom. Jk.

Should be. I know they do casting calls, etc, in the US, but I've never known that in the UK. I've been on many red carpets and it's always been a matter of getting there early and queuing, not unlike at a gig. LOL.
