I realised the other night, whilst talking to Aerrow and glugging down wine, that I'd love to have my own Record Label. Of course there have been many jobs that I've wanted to take up, but this one I can see myself being good at. Why? I'm seventeen, nearly eighteen-- and yes that's quite young to even think about starting a business. But, I like all different sorts of music. I know what's good, and I know what isn't in upcoming bands. It'd an an independant, 'alternative,' label, and I wouldn't keep the new-and-upcoming artists in one genre, I'd make sure I had a selection so the bands are for everyone. So there's a vast difference in the music on my label. I'm good with advertising and media. (I.e- I'd be a good promoter.)
What do you guys think of this? I've already come up with a name - Realisation Records. But i'd like honest opinions on whether you think I'd be able to do it (while being a stand-up comedian on the side, haha. I wish!) etc etc.
AND. What about you? What do you want to be in the future, career-wise?

Ooh, i like this thread That sounds like a really cool idea, Becky. I like the name, too! Good luck with it ;D I don't know what i want to be. I've never really thought about it much... I love to be a writer, but the chances of that happening are really small. Either that, an English teacher, or teaching English to French/German people. But that would only work, if i find a way to learn German and if i can stand French through college and uni...etc. Sound like a good job idea?

yep it does sound like a good ideaa !! xD
and with becky, you weren't very... confident with this idea and i pointed out that all major record labels had to start out somewhere, and they were all formed from some crazy idea!! so i say go for it... but when your big and famous dont forget about us!
and my job aspiration is to be a graphic designer.. i'm not to good at it but with a little bit of practise i should be reet!!

Pah, I'd never forget you guys. How could I? Imagine if it became real, and I signed Tokio Hotel? I'd blatantly organise a Street Team interview. : P
And, Jess, I'm learning German via Linguaphone (or whatever it's called) it's really good. Cuz you just listen and repeat, no written work etc and you get to know how to pronounce the words properly. [: German is actually quite an easy language to learn believe it or not, because it is similar to ours. But it's a good idea, yeah. I mean, if you did learn German/French to the T you could even be an interpreter if you don't wanna teach later on. Interpreters can get paid some serious money.
Example - auch = also. Hallo = hello Guten tag = Good day / Morning Tag = day Schiesse = Sh*t Ich bin = I am. Wir = We Mir / Mich = me Mein = my. fricken = to f*ck und= and XD
(:
And graphic designer, Aerrow? Awesome. You couild design the label's logo ;D

Ooooh i think you would be good at it becky...i don't really know you but my gut feeling says that you will..... I like the way you thought of not having one type of genre, and having a mixture. I also like the name, sounds great!
I'd love to go into the music industry myself.....actually doing what the TH guys do, but i think that's never really going to happen..... but yeah it's what im passionate about doing. I've wanted to do it since i was 6 years old and it's never left my mind lol. =)
oh and becky what is Linguaphone?? (is it on the net? or? yeah lol)

I have no idea what it would involve to do that Becky, but one thing I do know, you can do anything if you put your mind to it! ;D And there`s no such thing as too young - the younger you start the better I reckon :-) Sure, it`s a big dream, but thousands of people realise their dreams everyday - why not you? Go for it! Me, I have two goals. My main dream is to run an animal rescue centre. But I also want to qualify as a paleontologist, and if I do, and find a good position ( which is very possible on the isle of wight ) it`s possible I would stay and abandon the rescue centre plan. I dunno

It's basically CD's, that you listen too. They are very good, I only have two of the German ones. But they're my dad's, he also wants to learn German.
You can find them in quite a few stores [WHSmiths sell them.]

You never know, Liz. If you have a gut instinct, go for it. It's best to have more than one inspiration when it comes to jobs. Afterall, if one fell through you'd have another go after!
