I'm a bit emotional on this topic at the moment, so I will edit this later, but meanwhile, i just want you all to see this, and watch the video. If your weak hearted than dont watch the video, its truly disgusting what the animals have to go through, and please feel free to post video links similar to this. Also this is a post for people who are vegans and vegetarians, so they can post the reason behind their change, I personally want to become vegterian. www.furisdead.com/feat/ChineseFurFarms/Bye for now, Romana. EDITED: More updates my fellow TH-ians. The meat industry causes: 18% of greenhouse gas emissions measured in CO2 equivalent.(more than trasport) Livestock are responsible for 64% of anthropogenic ammonia emissions(adds to acid rain) over 8 percent of global human water use (almost the largest water pollouters) key factor in deforestation (i'm not sure about this one>>>) The meat industry causes over one third of worl polloution.

Great to hear you want to become a veggie. If you need any help or advice just yell. I`ve been a veggie all my life. My mum is a serious animal rights activisit and she bought us all up as veggies. ;D Unfortunately this video is just an example of one of a million ways that animals are abused. But the meat industry is certainly the largest so becoming a veggie is a really great step. Good luck!! Just make sure you read up on some nutritional information - you do have to make sure you still get all the nutrients you need. You can get a free Vegetarian Starter Pack here that will help - www.peta.org.uk/feat/UKvegkit/Just click onthe red link that reads `order your free copy` on the left ;D

Ha, never believe anything PETA says 100%. They overexaggerate basically everything. However, they do give out free stickers and leaflets I am a vegetarian. I've watched one or two of their videos (Meet you Meat) and they make me cry so much. My sister was a veggie for about a year before me and i ended up doing some research (in which i came across PETA) and it kinda stemmed from there. I've been a vegetarian for over 3 years now. If i'd known how ridiculous PETA was back then, the chance of me becoming a vegetarian would have been much lower. However, i'm animal-free now and that's never going to change I thought it was going to be really hard to give up meat at first but it actually wasn't. If you really want to be a vegetarian, keep at it! And watch out for things like gelatine (animal bones, tendons etc) in products. Oh yeah, i'm NOT one to shove my beliefs in your face so don't worry

Ah, i'm awful with making sure i get all the nutrients etc that i need =/ My sister was anemic at one point and my friend who is also a vegetarian found out today that she may be anemic. It would be a great idea to find out what you'd need to eat to get the right stuff to replace meat I should have done it a long time ago xD

Hey nash, well, I can`t speak for anyone else - only myself. Personally, my problem with the meat industry can be broken down into 3 main points 1) The obvious - cruelty 2) The production of meat is catastrophically bad for the planet. 3) We simply have no right to breed another species purely so we can eat them! Think if you will, if a super intelligent alien race came to earth and decided to `farm` us for food? Is that acceptable purely because they have a higher level of intelligence than us? No. Of course not.
So, what happens in the wild - as nature intended it to happen - although it can be heartbreaking, doesn`t offend me in the same way that human meat consumption does. Hope that makes sense.

Ugh, i just watched part of that video. That is bloody disgusting.
I would LOVE to find one of those idots and skin them alive. It wouldn't be AS bad if they could at least kill the poor animal before they mutilate it :K
Oh yeah, in response to what Nash said. My opinion on that is humans can choose not to eat other animals, animals can't really as they normally need it to survive. (Don't know if that makes sense)

It only a question BTW. I always wonderd ..its not a dig! It depends on a person really, vegans/vegetarians are humans, and we all know humans can control themselves, and we have easy access to ALL kinds of food, but some animals have to eat meat, because they cant always find something else to eat, some just cant conrol themselves, and i think sometimes its just to do with less inteliigence and traditon.
