Uhm.. Do we have a thread for this already? I'm not sure.. But I'm just baking a cake, and kind of failed at it. Shame on me, it's more like a massive flat muffin :S
Anyone else a bit of a baker? Or a cook, for that matter?

I was thinking just earlier on how we should have a thread like this. I love cooking, mainly cakes and other desserts. My favourite is making a large chocolate cake, filled with butter cream in the middle and melted chocolate on top, with strawberries and fresh cream. Mmm Just don't ask me to do scotch pancakes. Me + them = total disaster. Truffles are actually pretty hard to make. I did have a go at making them on Christmas Eve, but I must have handled the cream too much and it wouldn't set. The other thing I have a problem with are cookies. Mine always turn out like flat doughy cakes which taste more like scones. I've been looking for recipes to make them all soft and gooey. But other than that, I can do ok. I just wish our kitchen would be decorated already. It's kind of hard to cook without proper work surfaces. Mmm. I'm going to have to raid the pantry for ingredients tomorrow. I've been inspired by this thread.

To be fair, I can't even do beans on toast. I can do soup though. And I am a master of pot noodles. I make them PERFECTLY.

goodness *is slighly in awe of Rhi* I wish I was a good cook, but I'm too lazy to put practice in... that and anyone who ate it would probably become most violently ill. Going to have to do SOMETHING about it before september though, otherwise I'm going to turn into a pot noodle... me mam says she's going to teach me how to make ratatouille, so I can make huge vats then just freeze it.

As long as you can live off cake for a while, sure. Haha, I'm rubbish at keeping the timing of things though. As soon as I stuff a meal in the oven, I go watch tv and forget all about it. Nearly burnt my food today while watching Desperate Housewives, lol. I do need to learn how to cook some savoury veggie things, just not sure what to make though. Hmm... Did anybody have any luck in school with cooking classes? Ours were pretty basic. I wouldn't call making a fruit salad 'cooking'. More harm than good usually came to them, aha. I hate the washing up that's left at the end, urgh. Anybody fancy doing mine for me?

I love cooking/baking/etc. Seriously. I'm a secret cook-a-holic. Whenever I'm in a bad mood, I love putting my ipod on and making stuff. Brings me such joy :') LOL
I make a killer spaghetti bolognaise and lasagne.
Cooking at school was lame for me. Not to be nasty, haha, but I worked with my bestie and she's... not the best in the kitchen. So it never really worked out well, without me either seeming over-confident and taking over, or just letting her panic. So... XD
I just don't like the washing up that comes with it.

i suck at cooking. i can make stuff from a can like beans on toast and stuff like that. but, if my mum gives me instructions then i can make it. i remember one time i was making dinner for me and my brother. i was wondering why the food wasn't cooking... the oven wasn't even on. *blush* bad, right?

I love cooking.
When you're a veggie you need to be a good cook, if meals aren't going to become boring! I do most of the main meal cooking in our house. Cakes and treats are my mum's department!
Veggie curries and Lasagne are my specialities!

Mmm, curry. I agree with you on the veggie side of things. Not sure if it's just me or not, but I tend to find a lot of the vegetarian food in the shops bland. Tesco's have started selling these peppered quorn bites, which are absolutely delicious. I love a good Lasange or Shephards Pie with green beans and gravy. All this talk about food is making me hungry.
