When it comes to Bill's voice, I have to agree. If, and I do say if, this is the reason for not singing live, then I'm sorry, but this isn't the way to deal with it.
If Bill's voice needs a break, then they shouldn't have scheduled the shows. It's that simple.
I agree with Claire that they are being let down by the people around them. A live performance is a live performance. If for whatever reason the guys are not up to going out live, then it should not be on the 'to do' list. Don't get me wrong, if something is up - I'm on their side! I want them to go home and relax, and of course I hope Bill's voice is fine! I'm just saying, don't milk it if you aren't up to it. If that is the case, of course ... Which it might not be, lol.
It seems to me that now it is all about shoving them on every possible radio and tv show, and lord knows what else.

All very true. I also think they shouldn't have played those dates and that has nothing to do with USA frustration or whatever. Just remember how at this point last year they were on TRL XXL talking about looking forward to their holiday and needing one too, Bill being on medication etc. This past year was just as exhausting and they worked just as hard if not even harder (all that travelling including longer journeys, jetlag, illness, surgery etc). They should've just stopped making public appearances after the fan party. Maybe work in the studio or whatever they can do behind the scenes and finally get their a**es off on holiday. It's not of any use to finish the year on a note like this. People always vividly remember stuff that just happened at the end of the year. Just like last year when German fans were fed up with them not appearing more in Germany when looking at the beginning of the year they had done tons for German fans. This lip-synching drama is really not good. Especially as it makes its way through the international media. I haven't read anything yet but Claire mentioned that RTL mentioned it too. Ha ha. Seriously. It's probably a huge deal in Germany as well now even though no one EVER complains or even bothers to mention that e.g. The Dome is always playback for most artists. Yes, The Dome gets broadcasted on TV but fans have to buy tickets (which don't come cheap, I believe) for it to see several artists and barely any of them ever perform live. I don't recall any TH performance that was live during those concerts even when they were the "headliner" but people are just used to it. However, TH's people must've known while they might occasionally get away with it in Germany and it being the "normal" way to do it without people being too upset, it would not get unnoticed elsewhere or would even be accepted. Especially not the US. So yeah, I'm agreeing on people around them letting them down. Maybe they've been ill-advised. They shouldn't have played those shows if they weren't up to them. Fair enough if this decision was partly made because they didn't want to let down fans by not appearing or declining the offer in the first place but still. I can understand that people are not happy about it. The only way this would've been kind of acceptable would be if they had to do it due to technical reasons or because organisers demanded it but let's face it. That's highly unlikely, especially with it being several shows.
Still, I'm a bit miffed at this stupid Milli Vanilli comparison. Pah. They never sang themselves to begin with and it was not a matter of the odd lip-synching here and there... and it ruined them... with one of them being dead now.
Maybe Perez also would like to dig out the fact that the only male member in another sucessful band, Boney M, never "sang" himself but it was actually the voice of their producer. Wouldn't that be good? After all we've known for quite some time that it's actually not Bill singing but has been Jost all along. *lol*

To be honest, I think that it's all over rated. /Yeah it's a shame they did it but I would be grateful just to be in their presence.
LOL at you Susi. I would actually pee myself laughing if it turned out to be Jost! It'd be HILARIOUS xD

There's actually tons more. On buzznet, a US radio station mentioned it on the radio earlier today, some newspaper in Romania, etc. It's spreading pretty rapidly and will probably continue. Most people suspect it will be in one or two major newspapers in Germany tomorrow. Guess we'll see.

I give it until Saturday before a blog is produced or a video message to explain why. The minute the German Media get a hold of it they have no choice bar to explain, it's going to be the bane of all interviews.

it was on RTL today and Pro7 and stuff in germany which basically are the celebrity stuff stations. and RTL made 3 us gigs done in playback to all usa gigs done in playback bad publicity especially at the end of a year and no reaction from TH ot their management so far...greaaaaaaaaat! gah I'm really annoyed by this.

Gah. I think it's bad they did it, I honestly do. But I think these reports are being too harsh. I mean, I'm not making excuses for them, and they have kinda bought this on themselves. But these reports are making it sound like Bill's never sang a live song in his life! And we know that's not true.
I mean sure, criticise the fact that they did mime a few shows if you must. But don't try to completely discredit them.
And this Milli Vinilli, or whatever the hell they're called, thing. What rubbish. Those guys couldn't sing a carol at christmas if you paid them! To even hint at a similarity is ridiculous.
This is sad now. Guys, guys, guys, what have you done!

I'm annoyed more about the fact it's such a big deal when TH lip sync but anyone else it's fine. Yes I know it's Tokio Hotel but they were bound to do it at some point. At least it wasn't the European shows we attended.
I'm really not all that bothered by this. It's just what happens in the business. Why is it so wrong for them to do it and everyone else it's fine? You don't see other artists fans uproar about it when their fave singer does it, they laugh it off.
And Liz you just made my point clearer. Why is it so wrong for TH to have done this but everyone can get away with it? Yes it's completely unfair and shit that they did it, but ffs we ALL know that Bill has sung live before. I know he has because he went off key at my gig and Tom's guitar jammed at one point. I don't see why we should let it bother us so much, let the press get on with it and they'll soon see their mistake.

let's hope it's a shock therapy for them! they deserve publicity for this but not untrue stuff.
