Just purely out of interest, would lip syncing be illegal and/or fraud? I'd also like to ask how many people actually agree that Tokio Hotel use playbacks now and then, as I personally would sort of like to see what number of fans think which things.

There was definitely playback used in the past. Especially for TV appearances on German TV. No doubt about it.

Thank you. I suspected so. It sounds bad, but it's quite exciting knowing that I'm a fan of a band that does/did that, however, most musicians do.

Rofl yeah Jess, There are loads more they just were the quickest to hand. And Ofc Midoris right ;P, she always is, its the Phooson performance. And yeah, playback is used a lot for television programmes, such as that time they played Instant Karma on a German Television programme, that was playback. uk.youtube.com/watch?v=-hMXbdz2gag

Ah yeah, the Instant Karma performance is a good example for playback being used on TV. Back then I thought it was a shame because I wanted to hear Bill sing in English just to see how he'd cope doing it live. Haha. It was still a nice performance and I believe the only Instant Karma one they ever did.
OT : What I also enjoy about this particular one is seeing Bill "reunited" with Kai Pflaume who presented Star Search when Bill was on it and who made the spot-on comment about not having to be upset if one wouldn't win Star Search as the same happened to Justin Timberlake. There's also a glimpse at Nina Hagen (lightening her cigarette) who's a quite iconic German and apparently her wax self is also part of the celebrity community that Bill's wax self moved in with at Berlin's Madame Tussauds.

Bill Kaulitz has said "This is not the first time I've heard such rubbish. We believe that some of our success simply raises jealousy. But something that belongs to the game. However, it is senseless attack, because the famous Perez Hilton does not have any evidence that could prove this allegation. As our manager David Jost, the best view as you make it come to our concerts and see us play. And we really, really rock!"
I think it's clever how he doesn't say "We don't use playbacks" and merely states that Mr. Hilton has no evidence. However, the truth may have to come out one day, and I hope, if it does, it dosn't affect the band too much.

Where did you get that quote from, Pev? I mean where and when did he apparently say that. Was it in a newspaper or somewhere else... do you know?

Ok, I get it... when you post quotes and stuff, please always (if known) include the source and with source I mean the name of the magazine, article or the link to the online article. It just helps to follow it up and to know what to take more seriously than others. Sometimes only knowing the name of the magazine that published something helps.
So in this case that would be a quote out of Dream Up magazine, Iss. 47/2009
Perez surely has no evidence to carry his claim that all the US concerts weren't live because it simply isn't true so he couldn't possibly have any evidence. Obviously those last performances were not live as the footage shows but yes, it's clever to concentrate on pointing out that their concerts/tours were live rather than saying "we don't use playbacks" because they couldn't win an argument like that. It would just make them look stupid and it's better to not even start an argument like that.

I shall remember that Imagine the excitement of the media if suh an argument did arise...
