I've been thinking about that also. Is it going to be one song only - obviously one they can release as a single in the US ...
Possible, but still a sell out in my opinion. I know lots of artists have help with lyrics etc, but this is blatantly using someone who is well known in the US to help clinch the deal over there. It's not about the music and it sucks.
And, well, I was going to say what angers me the most about the whole US thing, but I'll take it to the moaning thread!
Please refer to that for the rest of this opinion lol ...

Even one song will annoy me too. I hate HATE to see artists forgo their own music to satisfy the masses. Okay, TH music is not amazing songwriting. Certainly not the English stuff. But it's them. And Bill has always proudly talked about how he and Tom have been making music since they were 7 years old. There is nothing about taking a Diane Warren song on that isn't about money and a IMO pathetic desperate attempt to gain popularity in the US.
And I do not understand the fans that think they should do all sorts of things just to become popular in the USA mainstream. Like collaborating with Jonas Brothers or Miley Cyrus. Why not just lose your identity altogether. Might as well be listening to any other American artist if they pull this sh*t.
The fact that they write with others usually anyway has nothing to do with it. That's another thing some people don't seem to be able to understand. Writing with German song writers that have grown with you as artists is not anything like working with a world famous American song writer that pens somewhat cheesy paint-by-numbers pop ballads.
And if it comes down to it and TH have recorded one, or several, Diane Warren songs, we will have a falling out. I would be embarrassed, to be honest, to put my support behind them. And I'm pretty sure I'd lose interest.

I agree 110%. As I continued in the moan thread - the US is smothering everything I love about TH.
And this whole DW thing is almost too much to accept. It hurts me to see it happening to them - Bill and Tom have always been so proud ... I don't understand how or why they are letting this happen.
I mean, I get it - money, popularity ... but I never thought they would let it come to this ...

I think that if they want to get even bigger in the US then this is the way to do it, but they are going to lose all their European fans along the way. In this situation its always going to be them or us, its up to TH themselves to decide who.

Even as an American I can't stand the smothering that's going on, the only reason I ever wanted them over here was to have easier access to merch and see them in concert, because I'm horribly selfish sometimes, but we (America) have not been leading them in a good direction.
I like some of Diane Warren's songs, but for only one reason- they're horribly American sing along songs. That's not what TH is about. Plus they may not have written all their stuff, but they've had an influence in it, American writers take a more 'I write, you follow' approach. Almost all the American artists I listen to write all their songs and music because otherwise it's hard to find music with depth.
I would be especially upset if they did a single for the US with her song, ugh, we fell in love with them through their German stuff, we want more of it!
All I can say is the European music scene is so much more unique and real than the American, we need to stay out of there. Hence the reason I want to move to Europe for grad school.
I really hope Bill gets annoyed with her, goes diva, and kicks her butt to the curb. Screw what managment thinks.

will this be the first song they'll have ever produced that was not originally in German? That will really hurt

that makes me REALLY worried. UK is just what they need but still, it does make me exetremely worried because it might end up with them working even harder then they already are to get these results. I'm worried for their health!

I hope someone around them finds his/her brain and tells them to start some promotion in europe again... or is Universal calculating on loosing them after the next album?
I might be a little dramatic about it but we know how almost everyone complains about the situation so it wouldn't be a miracle if it would result in a loss of a lot of fans....

Ja, if they went to regain their eauropean connections I think it would help. They still have the time to get huge in america (or maybe I just don't want them to saty there too long) but it seems that time is running out beofre they lose europe forever which will be a huge blow

If they thought the band had any longevity, they wouldn't be working them so hard now. I just wish the guys would open their eyes and see that.
It was obvious to me that the European market was going to take some major casualities after all the US stuff - so I'm damn sure they knew it to. So, the only conclusion I can realistically come to, is that they are prepared to sacrifice those fans, in order to make it big in the US.
Maybe they think the dvd and new album will do alot to make things better in Europe. But with the prospect of them writing an English song for release in the US ( if that is going to be the case ) - I think that's very optimistic! Actually, if that goes ahead I can only see even more fans walking away...
Basically, although every bone in my body hopes that I am wrong - I really do not feel very positive about TH's future in Europe at the moment.

me too Liz and that makes me really sad. First band ever that I care about this much and now they seem to become something I can't support anymore.
I guess the release of the album and how many copies will be sold is going to be the moment of truth.
it seems the band I grew to love vanishes...and becomes some teenager icon,us tennie boy band. not the band with the special kick that I adore...
maybe the boys don't even realise what is going on...I mean probably they have tons of people around them who say how awesome they are and that are making plans and somehow the boys just think they are right because they don't realise what is going on in the places they came from. at their basis in europe where everything started...more than 3 years ago...

Yeah, you are right Dana. Only the sales of the dvd and album in Europe will give us a really clear picture of how much damage has been done.

No new fans for them? They need to see the UK to be honest..new fans here, yet they ignore us...what do they expect? I've never liked the American mainstream...I've seen it kill off bands. And I sure don't want that to happen to TH. Also, yeah like Dana and Liz just said, the sales of the DVD will prove the damage in Europe, in which case, if the damage is done, they need to kick themselves back into shape and do what they're good at, which doesn't envolve a friggin' crappy song with DW!
it kills me to see them loosing their touch with Europe. Did they forget that it's their home? I know it's probably more the fault of the management, but it doesn't stop them having their say in things either and actually remembering the fans they had here. Sure they mention European fans being great and everything in America, but like, that's not good enough. All I can say is Fuck America, America has ruined every band I've ever cared for. Where are Lostprophets these days since they've been there? I'm still waiting for their 4th album which was due back in February. I'm not sure I want to support TH in the same direction.

somehow this turns into another usa moan thread... but yeah I'm really worried.
well truth is fans are always coming and going and I don't think the boys really care WHICH girls are standing in front of them...but they loose fans and don't get new ones to replace them...
and I think it's weird that Universal seem to have recognized the problem but doesn't do anything against it.
and part by part including this Diane warren thing it seems to become more complicated
