Dear Tokio Hotel fans,
Please do not give the Rick Astley fans any more publicity than they already have!
Firstly, you may have read Tokio Hotel Network's apology to Vote4Rick and bestactever.com. Please do not take what Vote4Rick says seriously. The DDOS attacks on Tokio Hotel websites have always originated with his campaign. If you have followed their movements, the chat rooms in which they planned these attacks were always covered in links to bestactever.com and are connected. His distancing himself from the attacks in public is a PR stunt. He is well aware that pissing Universal Music off will get him nowhere. Unfortunately, it's too late for back tracking.
Secondly, do not believe quotes such as:
"lets hope you guys do well in the Headliner category……because we have Rick totally covered in the Best Act Ever category"
"TH might as well give up on the 'best act ever' category and focus their efforts on something else. Rick is a lock for it."
"I agree, Rick definitely has the Best Act Ever award. I do hope Tokio Hotel gets the Headliner award though."
"Rick has 95% of the votes, an MTV IT manager confirmed it."
None of those statements are verifiable and they say them to cause doubt and convince you to stop voting. IN FACT, bestactever.com has recently noticed a decline of 30% in voting and they running SCARED. One thing rickrolling doesn't have that TH fans have is longevity. People are bored of the Rick Astley voting now because the publicity has gone, so they're trying to drum up interest since they know that Tokio Hotel fans have the power of the click.
Thirdly, this: "Actually, we don't believe it is cheating simply because the rules of laid out did not say that you could not use automatic voting methods.
ALSO
I have seen several other groups doing the exact same thing, so really if you're going to discount 1 act, you're going to have to discount many others (including Tokio Hotel by the way)."
is BULLSHIT. They're trying to convince themselves and the general public. We all know that there are very few TH fans that are still auto voting, if any, and the only method that was ever used was iMacro. It happened for about five minutes until anyone with a brain realised it was a pointless endevour. Stop believing their propaganda. They do it to convince you to not bother to vote. And they do it to try and convince MTV and other third parties that they're not the only ones vote cheating. Basically, don't believe anything Vote4Rick and his cronies say.
Forthly, what's their next tactic?
Lets look at the current situation: their interested voters have dropped by 30% that they admit. We can therefore safely assume it's a lot more than that. So they need to make things interesting again to get people reading the blog and voting. bestactever.com realises that, even though he's a big Rick Astley fan, the core voters aren't. The core RA voters are in fact doing it for the 'lulz'. And they're bored. What gets them going? Oh yeah, pissing off Tokio Hotel fans. So what's bestactever.com's new tactic?
Paying to post Vote 4 Rick banners in the ads on all the Tokio Hotel websites that they can. Why? To get TH fans pissy, drum up more interest in their site and recreate the interest they had previously.
Who cares? Let's keep his money to keep our websites running. If bestactever.com wants to fund Tokio Hotel websites, let them.
Fifthly, here is my personal opinion on Rick Astley, Tokio Hotel, auto voting and the EMAs.
* MTV added rick Astley to the category for a joke. (Remember: MTV.de did not include Rick Astley in their initial line up for Best Act Ever, there is an additional sixth nominee in this category when all others have five and MTV released a press release claiming to have been Rick Rolled.)
* MTV loooooooved the free publicity and attention that the EMAs received from this.
* MTV did not expect actual Rick Astley fans to come out of the woodwork.
* Rick Astley fans DDOSing Tokio Hotel websites was huge mistake because they chose to attack the official sites run by Universal Music.
* Do not underestimate the impact this could have had with MTV (lets think about who MTV would rather side with - Universal Music or a bunch of Rick Astley fans).
* Still not convinced? When did MTV start blocking the auto voting programmes in as many ways as they could? Oh, yeah, that's right, AFTER they DDOS'd the Tokio Hotel official sites.
* Yes, MTV have been blocking the auto voting as much as they can of late. That makes me wonder whether they are accepting any of the auto votes at all. Auto voting isn't cheating? Okay, but what about all the Katy Perry auto votes that were thrown out during the voting process for the MTV Video Music Awards?
* Finally, MTV can't allow Rick Astley to win the award for Best Act Ever. They can't allow him to win any of the awards. It's one thing to put him up for nomination as a publicity stunt, it is an entirely different matter to allow themselves to be manipulated and bullied into giving him the award. It will make a mockery of their own awards and they will lose any credibility or impact that their awards currently have.
Sixthly, and finally, I have been asked very explicitly by Tokio Hotel's management to continue to vote for Best Act Ever and encourage other people to do so. So please vote. Honestly, I'm voting like crazy - do you know why? Because I want to hear a million heads explode when Bill, Tom, Gustav and Georg walk onto that stage and accept the award. They're well aware of what's going on and I would love to see it happen!
So keep voting!
