Dear Claire and Tokio Hotel fans,
Before I begin to poke holes the size of Seattle in your argument, I'd like to make one thing clear - We, Rick Astley supporters, have nothing against you Tokio Hotel fans. Keep that in mind.
Firstly, Vote4Rick and bestactever.com have in no way involved themselves in any kind of malicious attack against Tokio Hotel sites, fans or anything of the sort. In fact, if you've actually taken the time to read some of the things said in V4R's posts or the conduct in the chat room, you'll see that such activity is not only discouraged, but actively prohibited and punished. Whatever element began these attacks may have linked itself to bestactever.com, but this is a unilateral act and not something we can prevent further than we have.
Secondly, you are correct in that we cannot be absolutely certain, but we have no reason to believe that our votes, which are legitimate votes are being, or should be, discounted. Furthermore, the voting rate indeed dropped after the initial spike as an intentional measure by bestactever.com to relieve the strain on MTV's servers. This was, however, only initially. Today, our voting rate is approximately 500% that which it was. This is due to an increase in fans voting as well as measures taken by MTV to support their servers.
Thirdly, we have actual screenshots of other forums, like yourself, both instructing and discussing auto-voting for other nominees. You, yourselves, participated in this, for whatever length of time. The point, however, remains. Automatic voting is not barred by the rules, implicitly or explicitly. MTV encourages fans to vote as much as possible. They give no limitation as to the method. We don't believe we're in the wrong here, and apparently, neither do they.
Forthly, every fan voting is a blessing and if more wish to join, they're welcome by all means. The 'Core' Rick Astley voters, as you say, are doing this because we believe that Rick Astley deserves to win this award. Not for the 'lulz.' Rick Astley has a highly successful career spanning over 20 years and the latest Rickrolling phenomenon has introduced an entirely new generation to his music. And we love it. We feel Rick deserves to win because he's a great artist and above that, a great man. Your dismissal of his talent reflects badly on you, not us.
As for the ads, surely this is just friendly banter and not doing any harm. I'm not sure who's funding them, but enjoy the cash.
Fifthly,
* MTV did not add Rick as a joke. Rick won the nomination vote and thus, like Tokio Hotel, is counted as a nominee. Your insinuation that Rick is nominated for anything but his merits is an insult to the other nominees and their fans, Tokio Hotel included.
* I'm sure MTV enjoys the publicity. Good for them. I'm sure they'll enjoy it even more when Rick wins. Good for us.
* We -are- actual Rick Astley fans.
* I've adressed the DDoSing charge earlier.
* MTV, as far as we know, is not blocking auto-voting programs. Our votes are valid votes and are treated as such.
* A publicity stunt? A Mockery? What makes your band better than Rick? What makes your dedication and devotion to your band better than ours? How dare you elevate yourself above us, implying anything but our heartfelt desire to have Rick win for his incredible talent. When the results are in, MTV will acknowledge the voice and the power of the people and give Rick the award he deserves.
Sixthly, by all means, vote as hard as you may. Like I said in the beginning, we have no quarrel with you, we only wanted to save you some trouble and direct your efforts to a better path. We'll still make sure Rick takes this one home.
"Never gonna give you up. Never gonna let you down."
Your friendly neighbourhood Anonymous.
P.S. The above reflects this lowly Anon's opinion. I speak for myself and as to behaviour I've witnessed and been part of. I have no direct connection to bestactever.com, short of loitering about their chat room.

Okay all I can say is why are you so bothered by us? MTV did add him as a joke, your choice not to believe I guess. he was added to it 2 days after the official list came out, not fishy?
What is the point in this message? we have screen shots of Rick Astley forums promoting the autovoting and such.
To be honest, I'm not entirely sure why you joined this forum just to leave a statement like that.
Rick had his time of fame and glory, it's time for new bands. Personally I don't mind Rick's 'Never gonna give you up' song, but I don't see him as a Best Act Ever, he was years ago. Why go back to past artists who aren't even singing anymore?
"* We -are- actual Rick Astley fans." So what? We -are- actual Tokio Hotel fans, as are most of Europe and america too now, along with the rest of the world, I don't see your point of posting here. Where is it getting you or any other Rick fans?

I think it's sad that Rick fans are joining TH forums to leave pointless statements like that. How low can u get? U can't be that devoted if your wasting valuable voting time to do this. Us TH fans havn't stooped that low & never will.

I agree with Amiee. The whole of Europe and most of America will be voting for Tokio Hotel in these awards. No where near as many people will be voting for Rick. No offence but his time has long gone.
