...Timbaland remixed or produced a Tokio Hotel song? Or if Tokio Hotel collaborated with someone like Jay-Z or Nicole Sherzinger (given that they both attended the TH show in LA, I am using them as examples). I have this horrible feeling that something like that might happen and I hate the idea with passion. Midori will tell you. Haha. We talked about it recently. I like a lot of American bands - Green Day, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, etc - but generally, I can't stand what's mostly popular in the USA, like hip-hop, etc. The thought of TH being Americanised in that way makes me shudder. And it doesn't help that they're on the Interscope label!! Thoughts? Claire

Sameee! I would soo hate that. Especially if their songs got mixed and ended up sounding like chipmonks! That would suck =// ALOT.

Ah, i'd probably find it hideous at first then grow to like it =/
I was like that with Linkin Park and Jay-Z. I wondered why on earth they would want to do a collaboration with him of all people xD That album turned out to be quite decent actually x]

=[ Its not really the actual songs i wouldnt like, im sure if TH collaberated with anyone it would still sound good. Its just the whole "TH AMERICA" idea, i really dont want them to become to Amercianised tbh, I dont think they ever would but the whole concept makes me sad =[ i hope they always stay true to themselves.
x
but i wouldnt mind Timberland coz he remixed the hives and it was pretty awesome.

I think my personal distaste for the whole idea stems from disliking the idea of TH becoming Americanised. I like TH for them being a German rock band. Not an American drone destined to be on the long list of artists that Timbaland 'approve'. They're supposed to be subversive and not for everyone...it would be selling out for them to do something like that to appeal to the lowest common denominator in the US.
I haven't over-thought this or anything. LOL.

I hate the idea. Its something I`ve thought about, and I`m sad to say that it won`t suprise me if it happens. But I really don`t want it to. I also would feel like they were `selling out`. What I love most about TH is their individuality. They have their own thing going on, and it`s like nothing anyone else in the world has. I don`t want to see that compromised.

Haha, I didn't expect to find a thread about this, Claire. ;D It's good to get opinions. As I said before, I would not be surprised if it would happen, just like Liz. I wouldn't like it though either. Just the idea of it. The song might be decent and likable, I don't know but I still hope it doesn't happen. I'm not too keen on that kind of music. If it does happen, I hope it will only be a remix for a b-side but not a single as such. I'm not against the general idea of TH doing a collaboration though... just not this "standard American" kind of collaboration please. Timbaland seems to be everywhere.

Just a gentle reminder that typing in caps is considered shouting, so not appropriate for a whole post!
Anyway, don't get too worked up! This is just a hypothetical conversation, lol. Nothing has even been suggested officially, I was just pondering the idea.

They've already had a song remixed by two guys from AFI- and I quite liked it. But I don't think I'd like them to do a collab; then again I thought the Jay-Z and Linkin Park thing would be crap but it was quite good.
But nah, I don't want them to do it. They're far too unique to do a collab in my personal opinion, and it'd kinda take that away.

AFI are pretty cool though. I don't have anything against them being remixed or collaborating with bands/artists that have a similar ethos, but Timbaland and hip-hop...I don't know why but the idea is kind of off-putting.

theyd end up sounding like all the chav music and that just isnt right. they are not chav's and alot of the people who i hang about with are, and they dislike tokio hotel. i'll put the idea acroos to a few of them and see what they think. alot of people would take it as an insult if someone like Jay-Z remade some of the songs. i disliked that he made linkin park into that kind of music, because the originals are always better. i dont think that Tokio Hotel would sound good anyways. they have a certain quality that makes them TH and doing something like that would take away that special quality.
Jay-Z Can't Remix Songs Very Well. so i'm voting against the whole idea TH are GERMAN not AMERICAN so stop trying to AMERICANISE them and turn them into something they aint.
Thats my opinion lol!!
