Definitely. I mean, I know I'm unhealthy and will probably end up diseased or something from junk food/drugs/alcohol but someone telling me that what I'm doing is wrong wouldn't make me change. It's up to who you are and what you wanna do. It's like...you wouldn't go up to a gay guy and say "Stop it, it's bad for you and dirty. Do you want aids?!" ....You just...WOULDN'T.... It would be down right rude, harsh and mean. So people have no right to come up and say stuff about how bad anything is. It's each to their own. Always should be. Not everyone needs to approve of EVERYTHING anyway...it's what makes some things fun... lolz

I completely agree that its everyones personal choice. But I think if you are going to smoke you should be aware of what it does to your body and the people you smoke around. I don't smoke, but I have friends and family who do. I was put off smoking when I was 5 and watched my gran die from a haemorrage directly due to her smoking (she was a very young gran...late fifties???). it was a shock and not an image I will forget quickly. But I know that smoking does not have such a severe effect on everyone, but I know I would never take the risk. Holly

I CANNOTSTAND homophobes with a passion. Anywayz, I'm totally pro-gay so you all have a friend in me! Anywayz, as for smoking... dude, Holly, I know what you experienced is bad but I've had it bad too, don't worry. My dad was a smoker and he died of pancreatic cancer. He was only 52.

My dad died of cancer ( )when he was 49 and personally, i blame my grandparents; his mum and dad. Purely because he didn't smoke and they did. Yeah, i know thats wrong to assume, but perhaps if they hadn't smoked, he wouldn't have died how he did and when he did. Who knows? But i still shift the blame on them, and everything. Some of you may think i'm wrong in doing that, but im not bothered. I don't think it helps that i don't like them anyway That has put me off smoking for life, but i don't have much of a problem with other who smoke. As everyone has said, its their choice. So long as they don't blow it in my face or anything, like some randomers have done to me before ( >.< ) i have no problem with it.

Do NOT get me started on smoking. Okay, Ima rant
All you are doing is paying extortionate amounts of money for a little white stick that is like a slow painful suicide, and there are no real beenfits or advantages!
People say stress relief? There are SOOOO many other useful ways to relieve yourself from stress and such, and as in regards to weight loss and loss of appetite, just go on a diet? Maybe?
I always try to make people stop smoking because I know it's in their best interests, but if they want to, I kinda have the attitude now, let em.

Aww, sorry about your dad, Jess. *hugs*
Ah lol, my mother pulls the 'stress' one on me, and of course it's my fault that she is stressed and therefore resorted to smoking which results in the possibility of me getting cancer. Does she care? Hell no. She'll smoke if she wants to x.x
Oh and i was complaining about having had no food today and she joined in by saying she'd had hardly anything either. Well, what do you expect, you smoke woman, it suppresses your bloody appetite.
Ahh, sorry for mini rant -_-

I don't smoke, but I LOVE the smell of cigarette smoke. Especially when it's raining, it smells amaaazing to me.
So, on a selfish note I was really pleased by the smoking ban because all my friends smoke (literally, every last one of them) and whenever we'd go out in London it would rain and they'd smoke and I'd be like 'it's just a matter of time till I cave'. lol.
On a less selfish note, I think the ban was a really good thing because even if the people going to pubs can choose not to go there if someone's smoking, workers in the pubs don't have the same choice. Yes, theoretically they could work somewhere else, but a lot of the people working in pubs who I met didn't speak enough English to get certain other types of work, weren't from England so didn't have the safety net of family in the area to fall back on, and because they didn't earn very much money the free live-in accomodation was something they depended on. So they weren't just working in a smoky environment, they were living in it, too.

Personally I don't really like smoking. And I don't plan to start smoking as I sing and I don't want to ruin my voice. Most of my family smoke and I've lived with it all my life. However, I don't judge people who smoke, it's their choice and I can't do anything about it. You have to let people live their own lives and if they smoke, well so be it.

I smoke. Very little now. But, I do smoke. And I wish I didn't. Last year I quit quite well actually and rarely had a cigarette, but now I'm back on 2 or 3 a day. Which isn't that much, but it's enough to get me annoyed with myself.
Unfortunately, I enjoy cigarettes and smoking, so quitting is just so hard for me. I wish I'd never caved to the peer pressure of smoking. It just shows how weak I was as a teenager - it's so hard to say no.
But, if you can and do, more power to you. I'm extremely impressed and I admire your strength. Smoking is disgusting and smelly and I'm personally sick of spending the money. Addictions are a terrible thing.

I used to smoke 2 or 3 a day, now I smoke anywhere up to 10. Like you, Claire, I enjoy cigarettes and smoking. It relaxes me, and though I sometimes wish I didn't smoke- I do. And I'm sick of spending money too, but you come to lose notice of smelling of smoke. I've tried giving up, but can't do it. My dad only gave up because he had stabbing pains and the doctor told him he had too.
