I never moan about not having any money, especially if I have a fag in hand. Because I know full well it's cuz i smoke. but i agree with stef, i think hot people who smoke are even hotter with a cig. like.. women with long, painted, nails who smoke. yeah, i'd jump on them if they're hot. XD

I agree and disagree with lots of points you guys have said. Personally, I started to smoke when i was 12 because it was 'cool', i think everyone goes through that as a young teenager. then i stopped because I couldnt afford it, then I took it up again in college as a social thing. I never got addicted, and found it pretty easy to stop, I just have the odd one now and again when i'm stressed or when I'm out. But saying that, i'm sooooo glad they brought the smoking ban in. I hated going out and stinking the next day when I woke up, obviously there's still the smell of beer in my hair but not the awful smell of smoke that makes you want to throw up instantly! I dont have a problem with people smoking, as long as they're polite about it, my one pet hate is people smoking near me when i'm eating. I think thats vile. I dont want to taste and smell smoke when i'm enjoying my lunch! Me and my sister (who smokes) were sat in the town park on a bench a few weeks ago having some lunch and this bloke came and sat right next to us and lit up, we asked him if he minded moving to another bench and he started shouting at us because it was his right and if he wanted to pollute our air its up to him and we should eat somewhere else if we didnt like it! People with that attitude wind me up! Grr.
Rant over.

p.s. in case that didnt come across, i believe in freedom of choice.

Wow, that was rude of him. I may be a smoker, but I think it`s disgusting around food. Before the ban, if I ate out - I always opted for smoke free tables. I just believe in being considerate to people - everyone I mean, not just one or the other. For example, that guy was rude to come along like that and light up, but, if the guy had been sat on the bench first having a cigarette, and the two of you went up to him and said - can you move please, we want to eat - then I`d say you were in the wrong. Well, before the ban of course. Which is kind of why I`m not keen on it. Because although, yes, of course, people have the right to a smoke free enviroment, the ban simply `shifts` the power from smokers, to non smokers. But it still deprives some people of a choice. This is what I mean about being considerate. If people were more damn considerate to each other, we wouldn`t need half the laws we have!!! All these people moaning about a ban, but if they`d just been a little bit more selective about where they smoked in the first place - it wouldn`t have become necessary.

I never smoke when eating, or when my friends are. If they're still eating, I get up and stand away from them. I met a really polite lady once, I was at thebus stp and she asked if I'd have a problem with her smoking, and I was all 'no, it's fine. I smokemyself.' and so she smiled and said thanks, and even gave me a cigarette! i was like score.

hehe lol
I basically agree with most points on here. I mean, if people want to smoke - go crazy cos it doesnt really bother me. and Nash, I've had that senario when people moan to me saying "oh I have no money" but then my comeback it "quit ur cigs" and they cant say nothing to me cos they know i'm right lol. ;D
But one thing I really hate is when people do it because they think its "cool". bottom line is that it isnt. and trust me - if i go to my local park, they all think its cool to smoke =/

I didn't start smoking cuz it was cool; okay when i had my first cig, yeah it was. a rebelion thing more than anything rly. but that was in primary school. i started smoking properly in secondary school because my friend let me have a puff and it calmed me down. and i just carried on as a social smoker, and then started smoking on my own and regularily.

the thing about it being cool - it doesnt apply to everyone, I'm just saying in general, people in my area think its "super cool" to have a cig in their hand. I know some who are so silly they buy a packet, light one up and dont even smoke it! I dont get it =/ [most probs cos i'm not the brightest bulb of the batch lol]

I know what you mean. one of my friends started smoking, and it was hilarious because she kept coughing after every puff but still did. and we were all like 'if you keep coughing, why smoke?' and she said 'cuz it looks cool.' she still smokes, but doesnt cough anymore.

i smoke. i have been doing for almost 7 years and i'm only 15. some points that should be pointed out because they're just pointless/ plain rude. *dont smoke whilst eating *you do burn alot of money whilst smoking *it doesnt look cool *if your a social smoker whats the point? your just basically doing it for no reason *people moan that they wanna quit. dont whine at us. just go ahead and do it. *smoking can actually relieve some tensions such as exam tensions. just because people like me, becky, liz and kiah smoke doesnt mean that they're bad people. it just means that they (like me) started because they were young and innocent my advice to people who dont... DONT START AND DONT GET PRESURRED INTO IT! i had to say it

Yeah, def don't get pressured. It's pointless. It's always your decision to do ANYTHING, so never let others let you think otherwise.
I just....enjoy smoking....I find it great to stand in a group with my mates chatting and swapping fags. It's comforting to just be there and destress in a group really, not about looking cool.
Although, yeah, Bill and Tom look f*cking cool with cigs. XD It must be said! lol Not that that is a good reason for other's to skoke but it's not like they've ever encouraged it or tried to disencourage it. Bill seems more favoured to encourage us to eat junk food. It's ok Bill..we don't NEED encouragement in that department XDDD; -pulls pizza nearer in protective manner-

your DAD buys them for you? O.O lucky sod. xD But that's a bit bad, 'cuz he's encouraging you to smoke more. then again my mum always lets me use her baccy for smokes at hers. but my dad'd never buy me smokes with his own money, unless i was gonna pay him back.
The thing is, nowadays just being around a group of people that smoke is pressurising you sorta. i watched friends last night, the one with rachel and her new job at ralph lauren? The two people there smoked, and they'd go and smoke outside and discuss and make descisions of stuff and 'cuz rachel didn't smoke she felt left out so ended up having a cigarette. pressure comes from just being in a group that the majority of are smokers.
but i'm a very considerate smoker; when I'm with my best friend for ever, Saru, if I'm having a smoke I always move so the smoke doesn't like blow in her direction. The same with the rest of my friends.
