«The MTV Europe Music Awards 2008 took place in Liverpool last night. Tokio Hotel won the Headliner award, beating Metallica and Linkin Park, due to the votes of their fans, who are regularly really enthusiastic and motivated when it comes to vote. But they couldn't win for the Best Act Ever category, because an almost unknown singer did it: Rick Astley. All of his fans got to vote in a very unsual way. In fact, how did Rick Astley made it to get more votes than Tokio Hotel and the other great artists? The answer is pretty clear: the fans used a system of auto-voting. Even the nomination of Rick A. was pretty weird... We don't know how MTV can ignore this, because it's obvious. Now the fans of the other artists nominated want some justice for the one who would be the real winner, with real votes.» Translated by me. Source: www.lepost.fr/article/2008/11/07/1318745_tricherie-aux-mtv-europe-music-awards.htmlAs we can see, everyone knows about it.. Why did MTV accept it?? -.-

I still think they accepted the nomination because it gave them and the EMAs a lot of publicity. Personally I don't want any justice because that award is a joke. It was from the moment MTV let the Rip nomination through and it shows that they knew about all the autovoting and didn't approve of it in the conventional way with treating it the way they did at the ceremony. I'm actually rather pleased with the way they handled it at the awards show. They did better than I would've expected. An award loses its meaning if autovoting is involved and this year for the EMAs was not the first time we've had this discussion. The majority of TH fans have always agreed on this. As far as I'm concerned this whole BAE discussion should be put to rest. It should be done and over with. No point in going on and on and on about it. I'm not interested in justice or TH winning this award. The whole category lost its meaning long ago and that was also portrayed at the awards show.

I agree - lets put this to rest! MTV are well aware and have been for a long time what has been going on with auto voting and they decided to handle it how they did. I am happy that it is now over and hopefully we can all get on with our lives. Unfortunately some sites have been attacked since, but I'm hoping we can ride it out and get past it.
I got an email today from one of the anonymous explaining their side, I replied with our side, but I am hoping that it means this has now been ended. I am fine with RA getting the award and TH not. It's just one award out of so many for Tokio Hotel and at least they took home one award that was well respected and not treated as a joke.

agreed on all parts - the whole business is turning into a total farce. I feel sorry for Rick, he didn't ask for any of this, I reckon he was enjoying a quiet life until this whole rickrolling/best act ever business came about. Everyone should just be happy that TH won an award, and were even nominated for 'best act ever', which is somewhat of an achievement in itself considering they've been around no where near as long as the other nominees. Yes, it was incredibly unfair that Rick fans used autovoting, but it's just pettiness to drag it out further. No one should become embittered by this, and instead look to the future, and focus on TH winning many more awards to come!

Just agreeing also. Like I said in the other thread - some things are best left well alone. That award was the one that no one wanted to win in the end anyway. A joke. I'm glad they didn't win it, because we would have had months of how 'it was a fix' and blah blah.
Let Rip have it. I'm positive he doesn't feel as good about it as TH do about their FAIRLY won Headliner award.
