Guys, check out the new url for this:
Claire edit to include the correct url:
www.owngig.com/artist/profile/biography/7884504026983891
owngig changed their site a bit and added biographies to artists' profiles. TH's profile features a full on biography also two snazzy pics. Make sure to spread the new link when telling your friends and fellow TH fans about this fan action.
We've got 405 bids so far.

This is lame: the link doesn't work unless you have previously searched for Tokio Hotel on their site and it was the last profile you looked at. Otherwise it just goes to the artist search function. Looks like this is the link that works now. Took me a while to figure that out. LOL. www.owngig.com/artist/profile/biography/7884504026983891Edit: I'm going to email them to see if we can get a url redirect. It's kind of annoying that all our posts and banners, etc, are now not functional. Claire

Hello! It's nice that you're trying to help, but the best way we can hope to get TH here is to all work together. This is why we only have the one 'gig bid' site set up, otherwise people will get bored of bidding on all different sites, meaning the vast number we hope to achieve will be spread out and amount to nothing....
The best thing you can do if you want to help, is post the URL of the owngig site around, or ask any friends who would want to see TH to sign up! Making more demands doesn't necessarily help, even if your heart is in the right place!

I get what you mean but this is for people who do not want to pay upfront and can just click once and then forget of they want to. I just trying to help cos my dad wouldn't let me do the 'owngig' thing. Delete my post if you want.

With owngig you don't pay up front, you only say how much you would be willing to pay if they had a gig organised (no credit card or paypal details go in!). Even after you bid and *if we're really lucky* the gig is organised you don't have to buy any tickets at all, if you feel they're too expensive or don't want to go. But your bid helps give others the chance to see the band.
I guess if you replace the word 'bid' with 'signature' and this was a petition, would you sign it then? It doesn't cost any money until the gig is definate, at which point you don't have to go if you choose not too!
*Edit* I'm not trying to undermine or belittle your post in anyway, I think its sweet you're trying to help others who, like your father maybe wary of such sites and its nice you've found another way to help. But you can guarantee that if there was anything 'dodgy' about this site or it meant paying out obscene amounts *which no one has!* without the definity of a gig, the ST wouldn't be posting this around!

You do NOT have to pay upfront with owngig. I think you have misunderstood the point of it. The idea is to guage interest in a gig. You input how much you would be willing to pay and who you want to see. You are NOT obliged to buy a ticket in the event of a gig being set-up.
I'm going to delete the eventful link because it's exactly the same as owngig in some ways, but actually the owngig system is better. They focus on small, one-off, special gigs, which is appropriate for TH in this country. Furthermore, I know that owngig have been in contact with TH management and agents and therefore are working really hard to get us a gig.
But, again, I must emphasise - you DO NOT have to buy a ticket or pay upfront or any of that. You only buy a ticket when a ticket is available and only if you still want to.
Thanks. Claire

Aw, it's not controversy! Sorry if you felt we went overboard LOL. Mika and I posted at the same time without realising. We're just concerned that people don't get the wrong impression of the owngig project.
