I have really to say thanks to the other admin girls for being so much fun this weekend. We had a laugh. Nash and her rage and her food, Mika and Razzle's constant dirty mouths
, Susi's epic slow eating
and Liz's phone top-up dramas. The whole weekend was heaps of fun.
We partied with the Swedish Street Team again: those girls are f*cking fabulous and they made us a little ST message, so lets start off with that:
uk.youtube.com/watch?v=CBBJ5IXR1LASeriously, they're awesome!
From what I gather, fans have come back for the party and talked it down and made it sound crap. It was not - it was brilliant! Me and the other admin had a blast!
Anyone complaining had expectations that were way way too high. They, in fact, did more that we ever expected. IDK, maybe it's because we're British and we expect nothing. LOL. 'Fan party' to us implied a party with the fans. So we completely expected to get some stuff signed and then dance the night away with each other. The fact that the band were also in the room was a bonus. I found that we would be laughing, drinking, dancing and then all of a sudden out of the corner of your eye you'd glimpse Bill and then remember for a second they were also there, watch for a couple of minutes, then go back to singing, dancing, taking silly photos and basically doing what you do at a party: have a great time with friends!
Those that didn't enjoy it...well I've met two types of fans. The type that spent the entire evening watching the band, found it difficult to see, pushed to get to the front of the area they were gathered and generally fought and struggled. IMO that FAILS. If people had not done that, the band probably would have spent more time interacting with fans in some way. But all the fainting (most of it faked, btw) and pushing and hysterics meant they had to keep their distance. They had no choice but to limit their interaction with the fans.
The second type of fan was the miserable git fans with high expectations. I spoke to an Italian fan and her mother when I was outside having a smoke and they were both fuming. The girl was crying and her mother was ranting at us about how bad it was, how they expected a performance, that there was no food (lol, I got some popcorn, pretzels and packets of crisps so IDK what she was complaining about) and of course, the ever present: when they do signings in the USA they do mini performances, blah blah blah. I'm sick of hearing about America. Again: FAIL.
I think if there were fans travelling a long way for the event and had raised their hopes right up, sure, they probably were disappointed, but for anyone saying that there was no party atmosphere: that's quite clearly untrue. There were tons of fans, like myself and friends, that spent the night dancing and having a good time, trying desperately to ignore the crazy, selfish, hysterical fans that interrupted us. They are the ones who ruined the party for themselves, not Tokio Hotel.
The band are, unfortunately, doomed either way. It would never have lived up to most of their expectations, no matter what they did. Because we all know that TH fans will find something to whine about, no matter what. And the people judging it that weren't even there? GTFO. Reading a couple of whining reports does not make anyone that wasn't there an authority about the event.
Here are my pics from the signing:
This is the drinks list, lol:
I did not take any photos in the party room. No way was I getting into that scrum when I could see perfectly well from the very back.
I have some videos. TH entering the fan party:
uk.youtube.com/watch?v=J1y9YNdFEkcYou can't see anything video of Bill speaking at the beginning:
uk.youtube.com/watch?v=7KT1m_zugxAAfter the band left, the DJ played TH songs for the rest of the night and everyone really enjoyed themselves. Well, correction, all the crazy nutjob fans left to chase after their car or something (why?) and all the cool gals stayed and partied.
uk.youtube.com/watch?v=z6UQrBYapBAA weeny bit of footage of the new DVD. The whole thing was chopped up into segments for the party, I think, so it was kind of annoying to film without having ads for the DVD and Nintendo Wiis and stuff interrupt it all. Looks good though.
uk.youtube.com/watch?v=lA--fEvphR0As an event manager, I was, as I always am, pretty appalled by their operations management. That's the only thing I can complain about. Getting in was a nightmare. I also really disliked their security team, who were so freaking rude. I get that some fans are a pain, but their aggression and attitude is grim. They should have more professionalism.
That's all about the actual party! I might come back with embarrassing pics of the admin team from the rest of the weekend. Hehehe.
