For younger people, that 12-28 demographic, the VMAs are a bigger deal in the U.S. than the Grammys, so it'd be a real coup if they could scoop up a moonman there. it would definitely raise their profile a lot.
It's only about a week after their U.S. tour ends, too, so it wouldn't necessitate them staying in the U.S. that much longer.

Is Monsoon already nominated? I didn't think so. I was under the impression that it'll work like with the EMAs where we have to vote first to get them nominated.

Monsoon is now on the long list, which is getting them closer. That's why they wrote the letter, I guess.
Russell Brand is hosting the VMAs??? American's are so not going to get his humour, but I will definitely watch it for that! Love me some Russell Brand.
