To be honest, I have been against eating animals for about a week now. But I'm scared of even mentioning this to my parents. They'd tell me I'm stupid, and that It's just a phase. I think I'll get help from someone, Ans straight up tell my parents I AM a vegetarian. They'll probably force meat down my throat, though. =/

I'm sure if you stress your reasons and remind them that parents should support such decisions, sooner or later they should have to accept your decision. Different people have different relationships with their parents, so I wouldn't know how to approach it specifically in your case, but generally it is your choice and your views and really it is nothing to be ashamed of- if you stick to your views against critisism from whoever throws it at you, you might turn out quite proud of your persistance to what you believe in On the other hand, maybe you don't have to tell them like some big announcement (I've never found 'coming out' with gay people necassary as they shouldn't be expected to be a certain sexuality, but again it varies depending on views and situations) and just mention it if it should come up in the future; perhaps then it'd be less of a big announcement and you wouldn't be pressuring yourself to tell them. That's just my views- it's all up to you really Good luck with whatever you choose to do!

I agree with 'Pevalwen'! And also maybe you could start asking them to buy you some meat substitutes like Quorn or something? So they can get used to you being a veggie if they're initially quite taken back by it! My sisters a vegetarian and when she first told my parents they reacted like you're scared yours might, but she just kept buying and eating all this meat substitute instead of what my mum cooked and eventually they came around ;D I have to admit I prefer some Quorn products to proper meat but I'm not actually a vegetarian, maybe your whole family will start eating some vegetarian meals so it will be easier for you Hope this helps!

I know what you mean! All the time it's 'why are you a vegetarian?' etc etc D: it's uber annoying, I've only been vegetarian for about 6 months but have wanted to be one for years, it took ALOT of persuasion of my parents D: but now we even have a special section of the freezer full of quorn stuff for me ^^

You helped me alot guys, I was worried about my mums reaction, but she wasn't too annoyed, she wasn't happy, but she wasn't angry. She told me It wouldn't last long, and I'd give up, But I don't want to give up ! She just tries to put me down all the time. I was worried I'm too young, But Apparently, you're never too young ! (:

I feel sorry for you that your parents are being so negative about it ! But I'm sure that if you keep to what you believe in, they will eventually be happy about it! You should so have a quorn section like hannah said she does

i didn't have that problem ^_^ my mom has been vegetarian since she was 11, and i started to go off meat about 2 years ago, and ended up only eating boneless chicken, and then about a year ago i went off that and went full veggie so getting vegetarian stuff in our house isn't that much of a problem, and my mom cooks amazing vegetarian meals. ;D

I'd try to get a section, but my mum thinks that it would cost too much =/ So I just tend to ignore her being negative and focus on what I want (: And I wish my mum would be a veggie too, so I could have the meals ;D
