I thought it would be a good idea if I made a little thread where we can put our stories of how we first came about Tokio Hotel whether it was hearing a song and immediatley falling in love or if it has a long story behind it here's mine : it was nearly 3 years ago, summer 2007 when I went on holiday to France wierdly enough I was on this website a couple of weeks before voting for the best band in the world, I was voting for another band but I noticed a band called Tokio Hotel were coming in first place, anyway, I went to France and they were EVERYWHERE! ;o all over supermarkets, magazines, markets in the streets! it was crazy! ;o so I bought a magazine and translated it (me knowing no french whatsoever) to know more about them a few days later I was flicking through top of the pops which I'd bought from home and I turned the page and tokio hotel were there, in a UK magazine, I was wierded out by the fact they were everywhere I went xD lmao, plus about a month before I had to choose my options for gcse and out of the blue randomly picked german :s so me being a massive believer in fate thought it was fate I had to become a fan of these guys, I was already intrigued from this magazine and Bill, wowweeee I was fascinated by him xD so when I got home I looked them up properly, listened to their music, ordered their albums straight away and fell in love hahaha it's a long story, I know, but I wondered if anyone else had any cute long stories like that?

How I found them... Well, someone on the internet liked them, so I typed them into youtube and listened to ready set go. I liked them, and in November I was in loooove. xD Not that interesting, But if it never happened, I wouldn't have my obsession.

Haha, I'm going to get SUCH flack for this, but here goes - my long (and probably quite dull) story! XD In Spring/Summer of 2006, I was in France, seventeen years old and stuck on the longest car journey, bored out of my skull. When the car stopped, I got myself some French magazines to keep myself occupied. As I was idly flicking through, something caught my gaze and my breath caught in my chest - it was a picture of the most breathtakingly beautiful, Japanese girl in the world. I read the article... and promptly got somewhat confused. My French is... well, it's not brilliant. I couldn't, for the life of me understand what was going on. I remember thinking "Hang on, am I translating this wrong or are they refering to her as a he??" The article was an interview with twins, one called Tom and one called Bill. There was a boy with dreadlocks in the article... but who on earth was this girl?! Was Tom some sort of cute nickname, short for Tom-Boy? Or perhaps Bill was short for Billie? And then, something began to sink in. As soon as I got back to England, I hit google and looked up this girl's band with it's weirdly spelt name - Tokio Hotel - and discovered that my Japanese girl was actually a German boy. Unfortunately, circumstances in my life resulted in me having some other things take priority. I didn't even get round to listening to any of Tokio Hotel's music. However, the knowledge was there, stored in the back of my head, just waiting. It wasn't until my 18th birthday party that Tokio Hotel came back into my life - someone at my party mentioned the band, saying they thought they were rubbish and the lead singer looked like a tranny. For some unknown reason, I felt the need to defend the pretty German boy (who's music, by this point, I still HADN'T ACTUALLY HEARD) and so, jumped in saying that they were actually pretty good, and pulled up youtube to prove my point. I typed "tokio hotel" into the search, clicked on the first video that looked like it could be a music video - it was entitled "monsoon." I swear to God, as it loaded, I was actually praying "please be good, please be good, please be good!!!" The video started playing... there was a helicopter and then the most soothing sounds of a guitar came out my laptop speakers... and then Bill came on screen, with the most incredible husky voice that I'd never heard before. After that, it was a gradual thing - I didn't really follow the band (which is how I missed on them coming to England!!! RAAGGEE!!) but again, they were there in the back of my mind. I'd dip in and listen to Monsoon on youtube every now and then... and then, come Autumn that year, during my first semester of uni, it suddenly occoured to me to get the album. Scream is actually an album I asscociate with that time, so there's some nice memories tied in there. So yeah. That's my story (if you're still awake reading this, kudos to you! You get a cookie!!) I suppose the moral of this all is if you see a beautiful androgynous Japanese girl in a French magazine and she actually turns out to be a German boy... well, that's your life messed up forever. XD

well; it was in 2007 i found their picture in an english magazine called 'mizz' i though that the lead singer was actually beautiful and had the most stunning face i had ever seen :L i then read that tom and bill were twins and i really couldnt belive it :L i guess the thing that made me search them on youtube was the fact they looked so fresh and differnt to all the over typical emo/indie bands i clicked on monsoon and my breath was taken away by bills hair blowing in the wind whilst the calm music of monsoon started :$ from then on i was obsessitvly in love with them and i started joined groupes and talking to fans all over the world in year 6 when i came to year 7 i was on the way with learning german every day there hasnt been a day since where i havnt listenind to tokio hotel <3xxxx

hahaaa! i thought bill was japanese when i first saw him brilliant story though!! ;D I also totally thought they were a J rock band when I first saw them! Haha. I also remember trying to figure out who the hell the identical twins in the band were. Seems stupid now... It's funny cause I've been sort of semi aware of TH for absolutely ages - like hearing people bitching about them on other band's forums I visit and stuff, which I never really paid much attention to. People always seemed really jealous that they'd get more votes on fan based polls and stuff...like no matter how much people would try and get this band to win TH fans would always out vote them! It all makes sense now But anyways. Think this all started when I saw the H&M tshirt campaign posters on the tube back when I lived in London and was brought to a stand still because of how beautiful Bill is haha! After that I sort of forgot about them again and then started talking to an American friend of mine who is a huge Bushido fan and needless to say Bill popped up in some of those conversations then I started looking interviews and videos up until I slowy started becoming more and more obsessed and here I am now - fully converted to the cause. It's weird it's taken me so long to become a fan really. I mean when you love bands ike HIM and Placebo, Tokio Hotel are a sort of no brainer but there you go. I got there eventually ;D

LOL. bill a japenese girl. :'D not heard that one before!
where did i find tokio hotel? it's a simple story really .___. 2 years ago, my friend *an ex-forumer* was looking around on bebo when she came across a video on someones profile and she thought it was one her favourite songs by HIM (it was all blue like one of their videos) she played it so she could mosh to it in her room, but it was in fact 1000 oceans by tokio hotel. *utter fail there izzy :'D*
me izzy and alex went out one day and she showed alex a song. Ready Set Go. they started singing it and i thought "what is that crap?!" *i was into r&b that time* then, at alex's house izzy then showed us a video of theirs. Der Letze Tag. i didn't bother watching 'cz i didn't like them, but then the chorus came in and i was like "this is actually quite good". i looked over to the computer and saw them on a rooftop. i said out loud "they're good AND hot!"
i liked gustav first :3 but then i saw tom and n__n i've been a huge fan of the guys ever since :'D

I first heard about them about 2 yrs ago but at the time I was really into another band so I didnt bother about them.
Then one night in January I was babysitting my cousins and they were on MTV. It was the World Stage show they didi in Athens. I have to admit and I am very embarrassed to admit it even though its happened to many people but I did think for 2 seconds when I first saw Bill that he was a girl. But then I heard his voice and new the truth. I now hate it when people slag him off for looking feminine.
Once I heard all the songs they sang I knew I had to get their albums so I did and have been listening to their music everyday ever since.
I am now in luv with Bill. He is sexy, cute, sweet and has the hottest body. Ok he`s quite skinny but he dresses well enough to flatter his figure.

Pippin, your story cracked me up!! I actually found out about Tokio Hotel through failbooking.com. For those not in the know, failbooking is a separate site where those with wacked-out status updates go so everyone can laugh at them. ;D I caught sight of a girl who made a confession that she had a huge crush on Bill Kaulitz. She posted a picture of him (it was the one where he's got the blond highlights and black hair, wearing a black cap and a black turtleneck...can't remember what show he wore that on) and for days afterward, I COULD NOT get him out of my mind. Starting doing youtube searches to listen to interviews. German accents got me even more. Then I sampled some songs on Amazon, and have been listening to them ever since!
