ZDF Report Host: Since weeks many fans of the German band Tokio Hotel are worrying about singer Bill Kaulitz. Because of an infection on his vocal cords, he is in treatment, now it’s clear that he has to have surgery. We have had contact with the manager, David Jost, just before the show and got the latest info through the mail. It was a real shock for Bill and the other members from Tokio Hotel. After an infection on his vocal cords, now a dangerous cyst has developed, he has to go to the hospital, an operation on his vocal cords should save his voice. What a disaster for the young star. He clearly hasn’t given his voice a rest from beginning till their big break, from America to France the boys have rocked the stage. There Europe tour now has to be cancelled, the manager tells. David Jost: “If Bill would have finished the tour with a cyst it could have damaged his voice forever.” For his fans it is a big shock, Bill is the famous frontman of Tokio Hotel, a superstar and not just for teenagers. His band is now very successful and go from concert to concert and win prizes like the “Goldene Kamera”, the “NRJ Award” and the “Echo”. Bill’s problems with his voice is hitting them very hard. David Jost: “The complete band is discouraged because of it. Bill of course fears the operation. Tom, Georg and Gustav try to support him the best they can.” The exact date for the operation isn’t known yet. Even in a good case scenario Bill’s treatment could take weeks. If the concerts after that will be played is still open to discussion. Tickets can be returned. To Bill’s fans only one thing matters: that their idol will be healthy again soon. Host: “We hope he will be.” www.tokiohotelus.com

I can only repeat myself . .. poor, poor Bill. It`s frightening enough to have an operation on it`s own, but I am sure he is also frightened that it may somehow affect him permanently. He must just be in such a horrible place right now. It really breaks my heart ot think of how he must be feeling. At least we know that Bill is being properly cared for and that everyone accepts that his recovery could well be a long term process. That gives Bill some space to relax and concentrate on getting better. At least with everything cancelled the pressure is of a little. We just have to be strong for him now, and keep each other motivated so that we can give the best welcome back he`s ever had in his life, when he returns

I couldn't agree more, Liz. I'm so worried and then to think about how Bill must feel, is really hard. That's why this care package should be really fun and uplifting. There's enough gloom to go around as it is. We need to keep positive for their sakes, too, and try to give them some strength this way.

Yeah I agree with this strongly. And I think that Bill will really appreciate it - the cheery part I mean. Because I`m betting that there have already been alot of tears - and not having Tom there at first must have majorly sucked.
I remember when my mum was ill, and one sunday all the family came to visit ( we live a long way from them ). Everyone was sitting in this circle - all forlorn and miserable.. like no-one knew what to say. So my uncle stands up and says " My name`s Robert, and I`m an alcoholic " ( in - family joke coz someone went to AA ) Everyone just creased up - it was such a relief to laugh.
So, what I am trying to say, is that something silly, can just give you the excuse you need to laugh. And I think the package will do just that for Bill. And Tom too no doubt! I`m pretty certain he`ll have a play with some of Bill`s toys! ;D

There's a lot of rumours right now, but I'm trusting this Bild article. Even though generally they're thought to be rubbish, they broke the news of Bill's operation. Translation by Aaliyah @ THUS: www.bild.de/BILD/leute/star-news/2008/03/26/hat-tokio-bill/seine-stimme-kaputt-gesungen,geo=4100858.html Translation: How are Bill now? David Jost: "He lies in bed and takes medicines for the calming of the vocal cords. At the moment the doctors cannot operate it yet, because a few days ago he takes because of headache an aspirin. That is a blood-diluting medicine and must in the body be diminished. Otherwise it could come to complications during the operation Bill sounds so sick. I feel so sad for him. I can't wait to put the care package together to send to him. Even if it's just five minutes relief for him, it's worth making the effort to cheer him up. So, come on people, think funny, think silly, think Bill needs cheering up! Claire xxx

Sorry if this is the wrong thread but... Claire (or any of the mods who are helping), How big does the picture need to be before I send it to you? Is this one too big? 'Cos I'd rather resize it myself before I send it to you so I can touch it up a bit in paint if I need to.

Aww, that's cute.
The bigger the better because then the quality when it's printed out will be really good. Thanks!
