It was a European Fan Party at first. They were going to have one with their American fans after the show. It's what their myspace bulletin said. It's shameful if they can't pick a brit to go.

Personally I have never heard anything about the intention to have a party with their American fans after the show. All I remember was that American fans weren't too happy when it was announced that the party would be in a European city as for them it would be harder to attend because of the distance. That was followed by some other fans saying that's it's nice to have it in a Europe as the band are already in the US in case they should win which would mean they'd already celebrate there.
All of this doesn't matter though. It was arguments and discussions fans had with each other a long time ago. It's pointless and leads to nothing. The Fan Party is about to happen and I think it's only fair that every fan world wide gets at least the chance to participate. Fans all over the world voted for the VMAs and therefore everybody deserves the thank you which is what this is about. Of course the rules and regulations are not perfect but we always knew they wouldn't be. How could they be? I think it's way more unfair for people to participate when they know they can't make it anyway in case they should win. As for fans participating outside Europe and given that they really intend to be there, it's up to them. They are fans just as all of us are and if they want to be there (regardless of what opportunities they've had to see or not see the band this year) and are willing to travel etc for it, it's their decision. It doesn't change anything if we get upset about some fans from certain countries winning.
Of course all of us wait and wish for finally reading that a UK fan won. We want the UK represented on the list, too. However, they don't get to pick the winners amongst the people registering for the competition. Winners are randomly chosen and if there's not as many Brits signing up as fans from other countries that means that chances for a Brit to win are of course slimmer. Also, there's still time for a UK fan to win and it's possible. Just look at the winners from Croatia, Greece or Lithuania. As long as UK fans keep signing up there's still hope. ;D Should there really be no UK fan amongst the winners in the end there's nothing we can do about it.

Susi, I was just going to say the exact same thing. The problem for the UK is that it's being randomly drawn. We don't know how many UK fans are regularly entering, but it will be no where near the number of German, French etc. Which, yes, makes the odds of a UK fan winning alot less likely.
It sucks, but for once it's nobody's fault. Just mathematics. But don't lose hope people - there are still tickets available, and so all is not lost. Hopefully some UK fans will still win
I really think it would be unfair to say US people can't attend. And it would do nothing to help relations between European and US fans. Don't get me wrong, I can't imagine why anyone from the US would want to attend, not when the band have been over there all year! Crazy waste of money. But they should still have the opportunity to do so if they wish.
It's not like they have won the largest majority of tickets - which would really suck. I mean, how many is it? Four winners?
Mostly German and French fans are winners it seems, which is what I would have expected.
But yeah, I really hope some UK people manage to make it onto the list before the draw is over.
* crosses fingers *

No one from the UK again. Lame. Poland seems to be doing well.
Still 10 days to go though!

Now I've thought about it, I'm thinking it was either Ashley or Sam (who isn't a member of the forum), so it's probably neither of them. Darn. I was hoping it would be someone here. I can't think of anyone called Melissa.

I can't either. Maybe she'll find us on here or on myspace and leaves a message. That would be nice.
Also, the first Austrian winner today. Good day.
