Did you find it, Turner?
I love it, it's so funny. There are a few parts to that interview. Rats, Cockroaches... LOL LOL LOL Lack of vocab can be totally awesome. I think it's brilliant how they made it through interviews sometimes.
Just in case you haven't found it yet:

I would surely be the last person in this region to have that accent. Though I wouldn't mind. I'm so useless with accents.

Hahaa, how brilliant, Jessikat ;D I want to steal it. Or share (I would say Jess, but in the unlikely event that that isn't your name, I wouldn't want to make that mistake I should try to learn some proper names now that I'm a mod, but I'd only forget... ) Ha, Susi (I can get that name right). Is your German accent very strong? I've probably asked before.

Lol seriously, how can you not know by now that Jess' name is Jess.
Hm, I don't really know how strong my accent is. Other people would need to answer that question. As I said I'm useless with accents. I didn't even realise there was an accent in Magdeburg and needed my friends to point it out to me one year after moving there.
Some people get my accent straight away, other's don't. I do the usual German things though... can't get the v and w right, sometimes have a lisp because of the th, struggle with ch and sh etc.
Thanks Jess.

Well Jess might have been called Jessie or Jessy or something similar I knew it was 'Jess-' and something after How interesting, Susi Do you think some peoples' slight inability to prounce certain things is because of the language installed in their head or they actually physically can not say certain things? Like some English people can't say 'Loch' like a Scottish person might, or roll their 'r's in certain French words.

Haha everybody is welcome, Char!
Well, I'm not sure, Pev. I think it's more about how the language is installed in our heads. E.g. I can't role the r's in Spanish... I could (aside from my throat being weird but that's beside the point) if I had a German regional accent that does the r's like that but because I almost have no regional accent at all I don't have the practise. If you have certain ways of pronunciation installed in your language, you can make use of it in a different language, I think. The lisp issue is pretty much a head thing. It's not that I can't pronounce the th; I can. Someimes it's more about overthinking it and what words or parts of words follow one another. If there's a th coming up and I'm already thinking about it coming soon I sometimes pronounce it too early and apply it to a word that doesn't have it. Sometimes it's even a bit like tongue twisters, e.g. the title All the things she said. I just can't get it right if I don't really concentrate hard on it and say it slowly.
Well, that turned out to be somewhat of a short ramble.

Hmm. Perhaps it's about what's installed in your head and practicing new 'accents' to adapt to them. And of course the structure of the larynx/throat and the limits that the body has. How interesting

I know that rolling your r's is a genetic thing, we did it in biology But I think with a lot of accents it's just what you've been taught as you've been brought up, and got used to it
