so i know this section is called "in the press" but i figured it was the best place to put it. i was listening to radio 1 this morning and i don't know if anyone else noticed it if they were listening at the time (i heard it at about 11:30) and they were saying about how Rick Astley it up for Best Act Ever at the EMA's and how he's an old act and they wondered how he'd do etc etc. then they said something like "he's an unusual person to be nominated in this category since he's up against Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Green Day and U2. and i know they're no where near fans of Tokio Hotel, but i thought it was pretty out to not even mention their names in the nominees since they were having a whole discussion about it!
what do you think?

I honeslty hope that being nominated at the EMAs will help them in the UK and makes them want to come over there !!
Last time they went to the UK, they barely did any promos! I saw them in like 3 or 4 magazines (and TOTP didn't even get their names right!!)
so hopefully it'll help them

maybe TH have wrote to every single newspaper, radio station & tv channel and said .. "please don't mention our names. we really don't want to have any more fans in the UK, or we will have to do a concert. and we really dont want to do that - we are too preoccupied in America"
lol ;D

Joanna has a point! What else could be the reason for the blatant lack of TH in the uk?! :S

Well, it made me smile. Sometimes it helps to be a bit like that. That's what I think anyway.
The major reason for the lack of TH in the UK is that there is no record label actively working on them in this country.
Still, no reason for Radio 1 to ignore them like that. What's the big problem about just mentioning them? Do they get confused about pronouncing the name because it's spelled with an i and not y?

JoannaKaulitz-x That actually really is not funny. it was just a joke peyton. dont stresss lol. anyway - maybe they just didnt read all the nominees(sp?) for the award? BUT whenever they say send in your requests i ask for TH but its never on doesnt matter if they didnt mention them - im sure the WHOLE of the UK wont be able to get enough of them and notice them after the emas ;D think big people, think big xx

Some radion stations/press mentioned them, some didn't. It's all because they're so unknown here. Give it time. Something will change eventually! Unfortunately, until they have a record label, as Susi said, the press will continue to ignore their existence.

Yeah agreed there Claire.
Also Susi, lol, Radio one never seem to pronounce things right, so maybe you have a point with that aha.

I think it's quite rude not to mention them. I suppose it's okay if they were recalling the list of nominees from memory, but if they had a list there and missed out Tokio Hotel purposely, then there wsn't really any reason for that.

I suppose it's the same for most bands such as Jonas Brothers - ignored until our media thinks "aha - time to make soem money!!"
We should all start working for the BBC and sneakily push them in xD

My English teacher used to be a presenter on a BBC radio station. Too late to do anything now, I suppose

I really think that when they come to the UK, yes I said "when" as I believe they will, they'll do it with a BANG.
They're gonna make sure not to make the same mistakes they did the first time.
I remember before My Chemical Romance made it big here. I saw them at a venue of 150 people. Imagine that. I even took them clubbing in Glasgow that night! Before I knew it they were playing the SECC to thousands.
Perhaps just for that itsy bitsy "entry" period, it would be cool to see them in smaller venues.
Naturally I want them to be huge, but i'd like to meet them, or at least get an autograph too!
