I tell all my friends, and like I randomly went up to three girls at work (one of which had a TH bag) and talked to them about seeing them in Liverpool and how they should join the forum and suchwhat. But I don't think they have because at that point it turns out that the 'new accounts' couldn't be created and I haven't seen them since I got my new phone. (Because I saw them again on my way to getting it, lol.)

*blows dust off this thread*coughcoughcough*
Since xAngelPromisex and thfan had this lovely talk about a Tokio Hotel PowerPoint presentation in school I thought it was about time to make use of this *slightly modified* thread again and give their posts a much better suited home. Here it goes:
But what you said before is still valid and true. I know people who will have a grudge against Germans because of the war and i think that's just stupid. I'm doing German for A Level, so even though the German is harder for me to understand than the English (obviously:P) i can understand the German after a few listens and i can sing along with them just as easily as i would sing along to the English, it just takes me longer to learn the lyrics. I personally prefer the German songs now, though when i first listened to Tokio Hotel, i was very reluctant to listen to the German songs that had an English translation, though i listened to the German ones that had no English translation. Yes, hopefully Also, we are doing German music in German at the moment and i am doing a powerpoint on Tokio Hotel to my class so hopefully i can get some more people interested in their music.
Well best of luck with that. Who knows, maybe your whole class will atleast be interested in hearing about them, even if they dont become fans. Its still a good attempt at getting them recognised
Yes i hope so I also asked my teacher if i could play a clip of one of their songs and she said yes, as long as it's a German one. So which one do you think would attract the majority of people? I was thinking Ubers Ende Der Welt because they are older in that song than in Durch Den Monsun (which would have been my first choice) and that might appeal to them more than watching them in their Schrei days - they might just see them as a bunch of kids if i do that. What do you think?
Well since I became interested in TH, Iv noticed its Durch die monsun people seem to like the most. Id go with that. Although if this is going to get people interested in the present day TH, maybe one of their more recent songs would be good. It might be a good idea to take some suggestions from other people. Im kind of biased with this. I luv Dont Jump and Dogs Unleashed so Id say one of them.
Hmm i thought about that too. Durch Den Monsun would have been my first choice because the song is so lovely and liked by so many people. However, because the people in my class are 17, i think that if i played a song where the lead singer is 14, they won't take them seriously. I would play Monsoon but i have to play a German song. Yes, i love those songs too, Don't Jump/Spring Nicht is my favourite all time song. But maybe a little depressing? They might not get the song if im only playing a clip and as it's likely that they wont understand the beautiful lyrics of that song, knowing that they wrote a song called Don't Jump might sound a bit depressing. Hunde - hmm that could be good, it's catchy and different. I love Geisterfahrer and Las Uns Laufen (I'm thinking German songs here because the song i play must be german) but maybe they're too slow and wont get their attention. I want to use a song that people will like after only hearing a little clip of it, and will want to listen to more of their music. It's difficult because i love so many of their songs As you can see, i'm putting a lot of thought into this
I know why you are finding it so hard to choose a song. You want it to appeal to your classmates, and perhaps one sung by 14 yr old Bill wouldnt work. I wish I could be of more help here, but I just dont know which song would be best. Cos Im like you, I like most of them so much I cant pick a favourite I hope you manage to choose one and its a success
Yes, exactly. As much as i love Durch Den Monsun, i just dont think the pitch of Bill's voice in his younger days would appeal. Unless i play a live version of it from the Zimmer 483 tour?..hmmm..im not sure. Ah it's fine, really, don't worry about it. But if by chance you think of one that would be good, please let me know. I have a week to prepare for this powerpoint so any ideas you have would be appreciated But don't feel like you have to think of something, i'm sure i'll come up with a good song eventually.
I've finished the powerpoint and everything I'm supposed to be focusing on the band and how they got started and stuff, but i did a little talk on each album and i have a slide for every album just filled with pics of the band around the time they released each album You know you can never have too many pics of the guys Hmm i was supposed to be doing it tomorrow but now the teacher is not there tomorrow so i'm doing it next week. I was panicing because i was going to have to think of a song by tomorrow but now i have another six days (including tonight) to think of a song *Sighs with relief* It's SO difficult! They have so many different styles of songs but they are ALL amazing and i don't know which one to pick! But at least i have more time now.
I thought of a song I decided on Sonnensystem - but because there was no music video to play i took the Hurricanes and Suns music video, removed the audio from it and added Sonnensystem to it instead. That way my class can hear their most recent music from Humanoid and also see how they have evolved (through the video). It looks awesome
I uploaded it to sendspace for my friend to see (she's not a tokio hotel fan but she saw it and said she loved it which is always a good sign ) so i'll post the link up and then you're free to download it if you wish www.sendspace.com/file/f28sy7It's basically the Hurricanes and Suns music video with Sonnensystem to it instead of Hurricans and Suns I had to shorten the very end of the song slightly to make it fit but i don't think it's THAT obvious if you didn't already know the song. My friend didn't comment on it so i don't think it's THAT obvious Thank you
Good job with putting the song over the video!
I think the Hurricanes and Suns or Mädchen aus dem All videos are good video choices. As you said they show how the band has evolved so they both give a good summary.
As much as I love Darkside of the Sun as a song, Sonnensystem's lyrics make me cringe and/or laugh. I honestly think they've killed an awesome song with those German lyrics. That's my personal opinion and I admit that I'm getting used to them but I really choked when I heard the first German snippet of that song. (The song is one of my absolute favourites of Humanoid... just not in German.) I hope you don't have to explain the lyrics.
Have you held your presentation yet? I'd like to see what your slides look like but more importantly let us know the reaction of your class to the band info, the pics and the lyrics... and maybe even the video showing them going backwards. ;D I'm curious to know what your classmates and teacher thought. Gosh, I would've loved to do a class presentation of Tokio Hotel though I know I would barely be able to keep it short. (When I was in school... *cough*1997*cough* ... I did a presentation on Natalie Imbruglia in my English class. Without internet and all I had were magazine articles that I needed to translate into English. It took forever. *lol*)

Ok I'll give an update on what happened then To start with, completely unexpected to me, a German girl that used to go to my school who came back for a few days just to say hi appeared in my German class. I do get on well with her and i have met up with her in Germany once before with a few friends of mine. Well, many Germans do not seem to like Tokio Hotel since when they released Scream and branched out into English and other countries. I didn't want to do my powerpoint in front of her because i know what many Germans reactions to Tokio Hotel are! (My best friend is German, she laughs at me for loving Tokio Hotel, her sister used to be a fan until Scream then hated them and gave me all her cd's and stuff, my german assistant laughed so badly when i said i liked Tokio Hotel in a german conversation....etc.) As soon as she saw what my presentation was about, she burst out laughing and shook her head at me as in 'Oh dear...' The whole of my class saw this reaction and were giving her weird looks and me wierd looks because i had not even began to talk. My teacher said 'Oh, i see that you do not like this band?' to her and she launched off on an attack on Tokio Hotel (the music is gay...the people look gay...everyone in germany hates them....etc.) That really wasn't a good start because people in my class then had this opinion in their head before i had even begun talking! Let's just say..i wasn't too impressed with the German girl. The powerpoint seemed to go well - my class seemed to be interested in it, especially in the change from the Devilish slide to the Best Of slide When i played the video, i was allowed to play it all! I was told i could only play a clip but they seemed so interested in the video and how they got younger and younger that they wanted me to play it all! ahah yes i know about the German lyrics too - i picked the song just because it sounded catchy and is one of my favourites on Humanoid also and as it had to be in German i had to pick Sonnensystem instead of DSOTS. I, too, was hoping that they wouldn't ask me what the lyrics meant! Before i played the video, i pointed out that there was an English version called 'Darkside Of The Sun' just so they knew and thoughout the whole thing i pointed out the English versions which might appeal to them more. At the end of my powerpoint, the teacher then said to the class 'what type of music would you describe this' to which one guy shouted out 'Rubbish!' and the German girl laughed. It seemed after that that people were too afraid to say if they even liked Tokio Hotel because of the reaction of the guy and the German girl, as several people did not say any opinion at all. Someone said that they thought Bill was a woman at first but now she thought he looked quite cool and interesting and that she could understand why people liked Tokio Hotel but it wasn't really her type of music. That, i think, is a fair comment, if she doesn't like that kind of music then she doesn't like it. Though Sonnensystem is very different from something like 'Rette Mich' or 'Durch Den Monsun' or really, anything on Schrei and Zimmer, which i pointed out to her, so maybe she'll check them out. Someone did ask me what the lyrics meant (which i was hoping they wouldnt because, really, i don't understand the meaning of the lyrics myself that well, though i know what they mean). I said something along the lines of 'It's about people who are fighting against something together. People sticking together to persevere through something which is confusing and difficult to understand' (Kinda from the idea in the first verse where is says 'And for the first time we are sticking together, enemies turn into friends and lie in each other's arms...what have we done wrong?') and she said that was cool. I also said to listen to the English version because the lyrics are better At the end of the lesson at least 4 people walked out the class singing 'Hallo..nah nah nah nah nah..hallo...nah nah nah na nahhhhh' which made me laugh so bad One of them was the guy who said their music was rubbish! Shows the song was catchy Someone also came up to me and asked me for the name of the song again and of the song in English so hopefully she was interested in the band (she was someone who didn't give an opinion in the discussion.) My teacher also kept me behind to say that she was very impressed with my powerpoint and she liked the band I think more people liked them than said they liked them, purely because they didnt want say they liked them after the stong opinions of the german girl and the guy. I'm kinda annoyed that the german girl had to say such a strong opinion against them before i had even started as it meant i had to work against THAT in my powerpoint as well. So yes, that is basically what happened And sorry if this is really long

Thanks for sharing that with us. It's not too long. Personally I like details like that.
Gah, so annoying with that German girl though! That even frustrated me and it wasn't MY presentation. Sounds very good though but pfft, really annoyed with her. *lol*
Anyway, It's almost 5am, I need some sleep but I'll comment some more some time later. Would just take to long now...

Ah that's good to know I know it IS very long. Yes, i know, it really irritated me. I mean, if a person doesn't like a band that i like, i'm not someone to start saying 'ohh you're just jealous' and try and force them to like the band i like or anything like that. If she doesn't like them, then fair enough. Everyone has their own opinion. But i just feel it was innappropriate for her to share such a strong opinion before i had even started the powerpoint! Why couldn't she had just saved it for the end discussion and just said something simple like 'Personally i don't like this band...' and make it more like a personal opinion, rather than shouting out that the band are gay, the music is gay etc. Just made it THAT much difficult to get the people in my class on my side because i was working against her opinion from the very start! Ah you're not the only one, trust me! Ok, i look forward to the rest of your comments

Dont worry about writing alot. It means we got a good idea of how it went.
I also am irritated by that girl. I really am quite sad about TH losing popularity in Germany. I would support them if I were from Germany and not care where they went, how far they branched out. I am loyal. They dont seem to be. I understand if they just dont like their most recent music cos Im like that with Westlife. But if it is because they have branched out then I find that a little disloyal. TH have not turned their backs on their German fans, they are just having a good time experiencing so many different cultures of the world.
Anyway it sounds like despite the German girls comments, your classmates have shown an interest in the band and just think, that girl asking you questions shows her interest.
So fingers crossed for even more upcoming TH fans

I'm glad you feel that way I didn't even realise myself it was so long until i posted it! I know, i feel the same way. I would be proud of them. Tokio Hotel is one of the few german bands who have really gained popularity outside of Germany and i would be proud of them (if i were German) for being from MY country and for doing so well around the rest of the world. I wouldn't be like 'Ohh they turned their backs on us.' The fact that Humanoid has a German version despite their growing popularity outside of Germany shows that they are still dedicated to writing and performing in German. It could be so easy for them to just stick to English now - and so much less work - but they do not. I also agree, if someone does not like the new music from Humanoid, then that's fair enough. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and everyone goes from liking a band to disliking a band at some point! But for disliking a band for the petty reason of them branching out IS very disloyal and also sad. Tokio Hotel really care about their fans. They know you can't please everyone and some will not like the new music that they want to make. But to dislike them because they are achieving their dreams? That's sad. Yes, i think so too. As i mentioned, i think a few people were interested but did not want to say so after the strong comments against them mentioned before. I'm hoping some of them will come on to become fans, but if not, at least they now know who the band are so if (hopefully!!!) they start to release some more music in the UK, they will be more interested in listening to it.

Yeah I know, the German version of Humanoid should point out to the German fans that they havnt forgotten them.
They should be proud of TH`s success. Given it was them who made it happen.
Well fingers crossed for loads more TH fans.
Oh did you mention to your classmates about this forum?

Yeah, that's what i think. They didn't NEED to do another record in German but they did. That says a lot. I know i would be if i were them... Yes, i hope so Ahhh...no, i didn't mention this forum.....ahh thats annoying. However, i had to do this powerpoint actually speaking in German so maybe if i had started talking about the forum they wouldn't have known what i was going on about. I know i would have had to look up how to mention the forum...

Ok, some more news for you It was another guy's turn in my class to do a powerpoint today. Before the powerpoint was up he admitted that he had only put together his powerpoint recently for lack of knowledge about any German bands. After my powerpoint on Tokio Hotel, which he really enjoyed, he decided to look more into the band and try and get to know them, so he had done the same band as me, and was that ok? His powerpoint had effectively the same information as mine only in much less detail (I went way over my allotted time for the powerpoint because there were so many things i felt like i HAD to mention!) When it came to the point where you play a clip, he said that he really liked the tune of Sonnensystem that i played earlier and looked up the English, and then played a little bit of it - to which my teacher stopped him because it was in English and not in German He was told to pick a German song instead to play, which he said was fine because he had listened to a couple. I was interested to see what he would pick. He chose Reden - but the video where it's unplugged and they are all sitting around in that room I was sitting there at the back mouthing the words along to the song I couldnt help it - i love Reden, its so catchy He was asked what the song meant in English and he said he didn't know, so my teacher then asked me, as she had seen me mouthing along I started laughing (I mean, we all know what Reden is about ) and said that it was about an experience that Tom had with one of his fans and left it at that After the lesson i went up to him and said that i liked his choice of song (Reden) and he said that he had listened to a few others like Monsoon. So hopefully, though my powerpoint, i have managed to get someone else interested in the band Just thought i should share that with you all
