Thank you Yeah, it's great talking to people who love Tokio Hotel as much as i do. I have loved this band so much for such a long time and always been on my own - my friends have no idea who they are and i can't convince them to even listen to any of their music. So it's great to talk to other people who like this band as much as me

Thank you Yeah, it's great talking to people who love Tokio Hotel as much as i do. I have loved this band so much for such a long time and always been on my own - my friends have no idea who they are and i can't convince them to even listen to any of their music. So it's great to talk to other people who like this band as much as me Iv got that problem a bit aswell. I found out the other day that a girl im friendly with at uni is into them and even better, she likes Bill too. My brother knows of them but doesnt listen to them. My mum knows of them because of me but she isnt into music that much. She doesnt become obsessed like I do. My little cousin just had to see Bill and she wouldnt give them a chance for a while. That really bugged me. Iv never been like that. I eventually got her to listen to Monsoon and she said "its ok", but I could tell from her face she found it more than ok. Unfortunately she hasnt listened to any others. Its all because of Bills style she wont try them and this really bothers me because it makes me wonder if she`s always going to be this judgemental. She`s 13 so I dont know. When I was that age, I wouldnt have been like that. Aaaaa! Felt good to get that out thfan xxx

For me, a couple of my friends know who they are because of me and one has said 'They're ok' - i played her Monsoon and Ready, Set, Go - but she hasn't listened to any others and i don't think she will. My sister has Ready, Set, Go and Scream on her ipod but, though she's heard a few other songs through me, she hasn't seemed to have liked them or got into them. My mum also knows them because of me and for her, it seems to be the GERMAN that's the problem. I'll play in the car Ubers Ende Der Welt and Durch Den Monsun and she'll tell me to 'turn off that German rubbish and put something decent on.' So i played Ready, Set, Go and Monsoon and i know she loves Monsoon as she sings along with me whenever i play it. She also likes Rescue Me but complains if i ever try and play Rette Mich. I've tried telling her their the same song, just different language and slightly different pitch of voice but she won't listen to me.
Yes, it's the same with everyone i know as well! They see Bill and what he looks like and they immedietly judge the sound of the band or their personalities. You know when they played World Behind My Wall at the MTV music awards? My mum walked in and she was like 'Eurghh who are they?!' to which i responded, 'They're the band who sing that song you like - you know - *starts singing* - Running though the monsoon, beyond the world....' She's like, 'Oh no, it can't be them' and walked out. She LIKES that song but she won't accept that they sung it because of how they LOOK?! I've tried telling my friends about Tokio Hotel but as soon as they see Bill they're like 'Oh he's gay' and that really irritates me! How can they assume something like that when they don't even know someone?! My best friend (who is German) even refers to Bill as 'IT' even though, being German and living in Germany, she has been exposed to a lot of Tokio Hotel, and that i just think is wrong. I was with a friend over the last few days and we went to HMV and i made my way to the 'T' section wondering if they had anything Tokio Hotel related. I was so surprised to see they had ONE copy of 'Scream' and i was getting so excited walking towards it like OMG! Then my friend picks it up and starts making fun of how Bill looks on the cover and how their music must be so gay and pathetic etc. Later when we got home, i played Monsoon and she was like 'Ohhhh this is lovely, it's amazing, i love it...who is it?' and i told her it was the very band that she was making fun of in the shop. That made her go red!
Ahh don't worry, i've just ranted myself and it does feel good!

Yeah I hate the attitude alot of people still have about German people. Really the war ended 66 yrs ago. Its way passed the time that we should have been able to put that in the past. Its awful what happened but not every German was a Nazi. There were probably so many people who were just terrified to speak out against Hitler from fear of getting killed, or someone they loved being killed.
I dont really get on with my brother. We`ve always had a bad relationship. There has been improvement in recent yrs though. I mention this cos my brother knows what TH look like and he doesnt judge them on that and Im really happy about this. I dont really like people being judgemental before they even know enough to make that judgement. He just isnt into their style of music. He likes more heavy metal.
That will teach your friend. Another girl Im friendly with hadnt heard of them till I mentioned them. She listened to some songs and liked them. I also showed her some pictures of Bill and she said about him looking like a girl but didnt hold it against him.
The whole "gay" thing bugs me as well. Bill has said many times he`s not so Im willing to accept that. A guy having a feminine style doesnt make him gay.

Yeah, i don't think it's so much German people that she has the issue with, it's the fact that when the band sing in German, she won't even consider listening to it because she can't understand it. When it's in German, she says it's rubbish and when it's in English she loves it - without even realising it's the same song, just a different language. Ah i get on really well my sister. She doesn't really know enough about the band and i don't think she even knows what they look like that well. But like your brother, their music just isn't the type of music that she likes. I agree with you on that, it irriates me when people judge others because of how they look. Yes exactly I'm hoping she'll listen to some more of their music now Yes, exactly! It's just the way that he wants to dress/look like and no one has a right to tell him not to, or that he looks stupid, or that it means its gay. It's HIM and he's not afraid to be himself

Oh right I see. I like the German songs but I like to understand the lyrics so I prefer the English. I listen to the German ones that have no English version though, cos I do like them. I just need to look up the translations for them so I understand them. I can cope with them that way. I dont despise the language. I think cos I like Bills voice, I can listen to the German ones.
Fingers crossed you`re friend will give them a better go

But what you said before is still valid and true. I know people who will have a grudge against Germans because of the war and i think that's just stupid. I'm doing German for A Level, so even though the German is harder for me to understand than the English (obviously:P) i can understand the German after a few listens and i can sing along with them just as easily as i would sing along to the English, it just takes me longer to learn the lyrics. I personally prefer the German songs now, though when i first listened to Tokio Hotel, i was very reluctant to listen to the German songs that had an English translation, though i listened to the German ones that had no English translation. Yes, hopefully Also, we are doing German music in German at the moment and i am doing a powerpoint on Tokio Hotel to my class so hopefully i can get some more people interested in their music.

Well best of luck with that. Who knows, maybe your whole class will atleast be interested in hearing about them, even if they dont become fans. Its still a good attempt at getting them recognised

Yes i hope so I also asked my teacher if i could play a clip of one of their songs and she said yes, as long as it's a German one. So which one do you think would attract the majority of people? I was thinking Ubers Ende Der Welt because they are older in that song than in Durch Den Monsun (which would have been my first choice) and that might appeal to them more than watching them in their Schrei days - they might just see them as a bunch of kids if i do that. What do you think?
