Frankie has mad eyes - love em lol I dont have a fave in this band yet. I dont like all of their songs but Vorbei is my absolute fave. I like Ein neuer tag - such a lovely song and so wie du. they were my first three songs I heard from them lol. Gillian [whos on this forum I think] got me more into them cos I listened to them for a bit at first then forgot about them but when Gillian mentioned it to me a while back I got back into them ;D I still dont know much about them cos I really just listen to them, so I'm new at finding out about them. I dont even know whos who LOL. apart from Frankie cos you guys just told me LOL

I also preferred "Nevada Tan" but nowadays I'm happy that they lost the name because it is part of their past with those producers leeches. So I'm glad that the name is gone because it would just annoy me. Also this is still a "good" time to establish themselves as Panik and they're doing well with it up until now, as far as I can tell.

[from left] Linke or Chris (bass)- Juri (drums)- Timo (rapper)- David (guitar and piano)- Franky (singer)- Jan (DJ/turntablist - he was the masked one) David and Linke are crazy talented Claire have you heard any of Linke's songs? i can get you hooked! ;D aint that right Susi?

kind of a long story but basically they signed a (crap) contract with this team of producers who were also managing them, they tried to push the guys into a direction they didnt want to go and went as far as saying that they had to wear headscarves and 2 of them (cant remember who) should wear make up and girls/feminine clothes ('WTF?' right? ¬_¬), they made Franky dye his hair blond, they were supposed to be producers but did NOTHING apart from taking their money (Universal gave €100.000 advance money to make the album but the band never saw any of it), they demanded 40% on the royalties, on top of everything they sent the band a bill for over €3000 - here i have to quote what David said in an interview "Eventually we've made minus €2500 last year." lol that's really bad but it kind of made me laugh in a *aww bless him* way so yeah... something along those lines!

Ridiculous. They essentially left the band all alone in the studio and they had to produce their own album!!! Working with deadlines and so on. The guys worked their a**es off day and night to get it done. They kept kind of a video diary to document their work.

Oooh, Anna, pass Linke's songs on to me! I haven't heard them.
I thought I read that Nevada Tan wasn't owned by the producers, or at least they could have fought for it, but in the end they decided to go back to their roots and their original name and were happy with that as Nevada Tan was associated with the horrid producers.
I think their producers wanted to be a bit like TH's and take advantage...it's not really common for the music industry to work like that. Usually producers are bought in by a record label to work with a band and the record label kind of pay them and so take a certain percentage from the band. Unlike with TH who make their music with their producers and thus pay less of a percentage to Universal, but also pay a percentage to their producers. I think. Then there's the management, who I assume get a percentage. It's all a bit complicated.
Blah, I'm rambling. Point was, Nevada Tan's producers were also their managers, and so there was a conflict of interest and they were able to take advantage of them in a big way.

I'm tempted to write a Franky/Linke slash, dunno why. But I do like them both. Linke's songs are wicked, Claire! You should so hear them on MySpaz.
