Hello all!
I promised a bunch of people that I would stop lurking like David Jost in the corner and actually start posting more. So hello!
We wanted to clear up some confusion about why us moderators do what we do. It seems some people think we’re employed by TH, paid by TH or, heaven help us, know TH.
This really isn’t the case. We’re ordinary fans who love the band and wanted to do more for them in the UK. We have ordinary jobs (I’m a scientist, Claire works for a university…) or school (Nash is about to sit exams…) etc. This is something we do in what spare time we have.
The Street Team is official because when we began it, there was no official UK fanbase and the record label asked us if we would like official status. Of course we did! However, mostly what this means is we have an inside track on news, official sanctioning, and the opportunity to be on THTV. *Bites nails*
None of us get a penny for what we do. We aren’t employed by the management or Universal, we’re simply here for the love of that crazy Georg and the other three (I’ll get in trouble for saying that). TH management provided a few of the prizes and supplied the cameraman, but all the activities and most of the prizes (the better ones, haha) came out of our own pockets and in our spare time. That’s why we had to ask for help with the DVD watching!
And we’re certainly not friends with the band! A couple of us have had the good fortune to meet the boys a couple of times but they wouldn’t recognise us if they saw us in the street, I’m sure. (At least, I hope not. Poor Gustav probably hasn’t recovered from the last time!)
We’re not saying we mind. We wouldn’t do it if we didn’t love the band and, just as importantly, all you gorgeous wonderful lovely enthusiastic people.
We just thought you all should know where we’re all at.
Finally, I just wanted to add: thank you so much to everyone who came to the meet up on Saturday. It really was the most glorious day and it really couldn’t have gone much better, which is as much down to you lot as to us! If you couldn’t make it, never mind, enjoy all the pictures (of me looking like a moose) and come to the next one!
Lots of love,
Razzle, Claire, Nash, Mika, Susi, Anna and now, LIZ! HURRAH!
