As a way of making it up to you guys that have been changing your display names recently, I have a compromise. If you change your usernames to something that represents YOU, I will give you a custom title of your choice!
As you can see on the left, under my display name, I am now 'Lord of the Street Team'. This can only be added by me to your accounts, so if you want a custom title, nickname, anything - it can be a weird version of the boys names if you so desire - reply here with what you want and I will add it for you.

The custom title is a compromise for the display name:
If you change your usernames to something that represents YOU, I will give you a custom title of your choice!
You still have a band name, so you don't get a custom title!
Work with me here, pleeeeeeeease?? I don't want to force display name changes on people, so this is my compromise. It's one or the other, not both. And obviously I'd rather you use a display name that does not include names of the band and have a custom title of your choice.

To be honest, I'm highly confussed here Claire.
So, if you decide to change your name, you need a 'custom nickname' to still represent who you are.
I don't see why people who haven't yet changed their names can't have that too, because newcomers still won't get who you origionally were.
I'm not complaining, nor arguing; I just don't get it!

I believe what Claire is trying to say is:
If your display name doesn't represent you, you won't get a custom title.
I.e-- mine is Beckii, which is my nickname; so it represents me, therefore I'm entitled to have a custom title.
So if it's just bargled nonsense you won't be allowed a custom title.
Correct me if I'm wrong, Claire. :3

Yes, that's it Becky. Basically Claire came up with the custom titles to offer a compromise and give the people who used names of the band members as their display name a chance to put those band member names as their custom names. So they would have a display name that represents themselves and makes it less confusing for other forum members and us mods but at the same time they could have the band member names (which they use as nick names amongst themselves) as their custom name to still show them if they wanted.
For you, Kim, that only means you're entitled to a custom title if you want one because using "Kim" as your display name is a perfectly good display name to represent yourself and is not a confusing variation of one of the band members' names. The same goes for all the other forum members.

No, that's not quite it. Lately there has been a trend for forum users to take on versions of the band member's names. Bill, Tom, Georg and Gustav are not names that are permitted on the forum, so to get around this, some display names have been modified to allow the members to still take on one of the band members names (by using full stops, etc). But this doesn't change the fact that we do not allow display names that use the names of the band members. As a compromise, I said that people with display names that aren't to get around the rules of not going by a band member's name could have a custom title. So if they still wanted to show their nickname that was a band member's name, for instance, they could as part of their custom title. Anyone can have a custom title unless they are specifically disregarding the request in this thread. Everyone should revert back to the name that the registered with or the name everyone knows them by. We have yet to make a decision about whether we will enforce rules relating to display names or not and I wanted to give people the opportunity to do that themselves. We do not have a 4 page rule document on this forum. You may have noticed that. Go to any other major forum and you will find there are countless rules of conduct and behaviour. But we never have and we want to avoid that. Rules make things uncomfortable and tense and daunting for new people, so we ask for things nicely and try to give something in return. Plus, we have never needed to because we have the best people on our forum. That said, if people do not consider the mods wishes or their fellow board members, we will have to start enforcing rules for the forum. Help us keep this forum a friendly place and do your bit to contribute to the sanity of the forum mods!! We work really hard for you here on the forum and generally on the street team and we do everything in our power to represent you well to Tokio Hotel and their people. Claire |
