Nah, that thought doesn't sound stupid. I'm pretty sure they know more than only "some" English and should be fine with understanding your letters (as long as you don't word them too difficult  ). For the words/parts they might not understand they could always look them up or just ask someone. Also you don't always need to know every single thing to get an idea of what is being said or what the feeling of a text as a whole is about. Of course, they'll always understand German better but still, I don't think you need to worry about it. ;D
If you'd feel more comfortable with writing down your letter in German, just pm it to me and I'll translate it for you!

you can do it how you want to, translating it in German (or have someone translate it for you, if like me you're Deutschchallenged X3) or just leave it in English, we all know they do understand it and as Midori said you don't always have to know every single word to get what someone is trying to say
and if you please you can show off your awesome handwriting otherwise just choose your favourite font and type it! ^^

Ok, I was just thinking I'd probably make a mess of handwriting it in German (Yes, Im Deutschchallenged too, as you so nicely put it xD) but I'll try anyway hehe.
I haven't even started writing it yet =/

Yes, it's up to you if you type or handwrite it. Whatever you feel more comfortable with. I haven't written mine yet either.

i have written mine and sent it in, but im thinking i might write a new one or change it. if i do that can the other one just be disguarded. i have a copy of the one i've already sent in so i can just change it or write another.
sorry to be a pain. i rushed the one i sent in on the night before the deadline was. so i didnt miss it.
