So... anybody feel like talking about the earthquake we experienced tonight?!It's just after 5am now and as most nights I'm talking to my German friend, Kirsten. She just told me that it was indeed an earthquake because it was just on German news. I was talking to her as it happened and we jokingly said that it might have been an earthquake. To be honest, I didn't know what it was... it was just odd and I never experienced one before, so I didn't know. Also, I have to admit that I wasn't aware that the UK had earthquakes every now and then. I was sitting on my bed and suddenly the wall behind me started to move, it felt like something would push against it from that side only. My bed started to shake and so was the room then. Yet it felt like it would only come from that one side of the room. I got up from my bed and then the room shook some more. So I got back to my laptop and wrote to Kirsten that something weird just happened and described it to her. I mean it was a bit unsettling, I have to admit but I wasn't panicking or something like that. Kirsten and I just read some online articles and how people said they ran out onto the streets... so Kirsten is mocking me now saying "und Susi schreibt stattdessen mit ihrer Freundin in Deutschland weiter ;D" (and Susi continues writing to her friend in Germany instead). Well, what can I say… Here are some News links:
BBC
The Guardian
How did you experience it?

Ok, either I dreamed there was an earthquake, or there actually was one o.o I do remember a lot of shaking, but that might've been in my dream.
But if I did dream it, THATS JUST PLAIN WEIRD!

There really was an earthquake, Kraig. It probably didn't wake you up completely and got mixed up with your dream.

Oh, Susi! I got into the office and someone said to me 'did you hear about the earthquake' and that was my experience. I quickly came online to check you were okay though because she said it was up near you. <3
Needless to say, I didn't feel it down here. Apparently some people are saying in the press that they felt it, but COME ON. We're miles and miles away. I don't believe for a second anyone genuinely felt it.

I felt it Susi! Just about to drift off to sleep and the whole house started to shake! My first thought was someone's breaking in, then when i realised it was a bit powerful for one person to be shaking my whole house, i started thinking that we'd moved into a really crap house and it was falling down! The mind comes up with weird things when you're half asleep! I phoned my sister (in Selby about 10 miles away) and she felt it, she ran upstairs to my parents who were asleep and apparently my Dad, in his sleep said, "Its the trains, they're on rails, i'll show you tomorrow, its the fibreglass." Yes Dad, if you like haha. Anyway, my mate felt it in Shrewsbury, and Liam's mate felt it in Hull so it was pretty widespread even if it didnt make it down to London.

Aww Claire, that's sweet. Yeah, I'm fine. Some experience though. I didn't believe it would be an earthquake because the thought of it was just so weird. Even when Kirsten told me it was on the news, I still didn't quite believe it. ;D
Ha ha Jen, I know what you mean. My mind also comes up with strange thoughts when I'm half asleep. I'm sure I would've slept through it had I been asleep and then wondered in the morning if there was something going on or if it was just a lively dream.

I felt it! This one scared me a bit though lol. I've felt earthquakes before but they've never bothered me. All day me and my friends have been making jokes about it though, like: "Did the earth move for you last night "

First thing I knew about it was your post Midori! I`ve just rung my great aunt to check she`s ok because she`s in the area that was worst affected. The UK seems to be experiencing more and more the kind of things that affect other countries more regularly - earthquakes, tornados, flash flooding and extreme weather ... I have some friends in Mexico who have told me what it`s like to experience an earthquake. Not something I would ever like to experience myself. As far as I can tell from reading online, no one was hurt seriously? So I`m just thankful for that.
