Back in the days of the Yabb forum, I remember there was a huuuuuuge discussion going on about the balloon issue when it was suggested for the anniversary of the release of DdM. There were many people strictly against it and others not really seeing what their problem was. It got very heated. No kidding! In the end, the idea was abandoned.

It's not a bad idea, Beth, but on the scale of loads of people doing it, it unfortunately does cause issues that can't be ignored. That's the problem with many ideas etc. That's why some stuff takes ages (research etc) and lots of effort to organise.

Don't worry; I understand ! I don't want to be held personally responsible for the death of many species because of a birthday ! I know what you mean; it would take a lot of organising and if it's going to kill animals it wouldn't even be worth it.

I have to agree with Susi and Claire on this. Balloons are a no no.

But it's still great to see people trying to come up with new ideas for the guys. ;D It's just that sometimes there are issues, like with this one.

I don't know if anyone is interested or not, but seeing as it's relevant to the subject, I thought some of you might want to know why balloons are such a hazard. There's some good information about it HERE
